Okay,

All Star Sports booked for 8 nights with free dining

Can I upgrade to POFQ and keep free dining?

Also, booked through WDW.com if that helps...

Thanks!

I saw a post the other day saying that now that free dining is over - you can't do that anymore. The reason being is that they actually have to cancel your existing res and rebook. You cannot rebook something not being offered anymore.

Not quite true. The CM's who answer the phones at the reservations center cannot do this for you, you must ask them to check with Guest Services. Guest services people have "the power" to do this if and only IF rooms show availability under that expired offer.

While it's true that no NEW reservations can be made, an existing reservation can be changed if guest services make the changes and the above conditions are met.

Click on the "Changing a 40% Off Reservation" in my signature. Its the exact same idea as changing a free dining reservation.

Good luck!

I have now tried 6 times over the past couple days to add 1 day to my stay. Each time the CM says this simply can't be done because their computer will not accept the now expired free dining code.

I asked nicely to check with Guest Services. They said there is nothing Guest Services could do. So 6 out of 6 CM's said no and would not even talk to Guest Services.

Is there a direct number I can call for Guest Services rather that having to call CRO CM's?

Huff,
Adding a night to your package would mean + 1 night resort, + 1 night free dining plan. I can see where it's impossible to add a night to the expired promotion, yet it would be possible to still upgrade the resort for the same length of stay.

Yes, they can extend my stay 1 extra night but it would be without free dining added. Each CM told me 1 more night can be added but no additions would be made to my dining plan. Yet others have said they did extend their stay and got the added meals.

From my knowledge... you are able to do this IF there is availablity, which sounds easier then it really is.

You have to think back to when you booked the package and if POFQ was actually availalble to book during the promotion. It potentially could have been, but may have been sold out for your dates of travel. If this is the case, then no, there would be no availability for you to transfer within that promotion... even if POFQ is currently showing availability for your dates.

With each promotion, there is a set number of rooms that are offered. When your interested in transfering a resort, your in essence transfering amoungst rooms assigned to your booking promotion. But if your desired resort is/was already sold out for the promotion, you may be unable to transfer.

It's what happened to alot of travelers booking value resorts for the promotion. Pop was sold out within the first week for certain dates and people were forced into an All Star. Some are still trying to transfer with little success due to the computers saying no rooms are available. Some hope that when people cancel reservations with this promotion, the room will re-open up for booking. But who knows?

Your best shot would be to actually call disney and mention you are interested in upgrading your resort for the promotion and see what they say :confused3

You call again and INSIST they speak to guest services. They may refuse again, then ask for a supervisor.

Until they speak to Guest Services.. you don't know the actual answer.

I know nobody wants to be 'that caller' that asks for a supervisor, but if you must, you must. They are NOT meeting your needs by refusing to check for you.

There is no direct line for this division of Guest Services, you pretty much have to have CRO check.

This CAN be done. I know.. cuz I've done it! But sometimes you DO have to be persistent.

I called this morning and asked to speak to guest services who said there were no rooms available...
but I might try again some other time.

Thank you all for your info!:flower3:

Right.. the end game is.. the answer still may be no ... if there actually are no rooms available on the promotion.

But you must do as you did and get that answer from Guest Services. The first Cm's that answer the phone will ALWAYS say no.. even when sometimes.. there are rooms available.

Good luck - maybe something will open up.

I added a day to my free dining stay without a problem... They would not let me change resorts however, which I plan to try again now that I heard about guest services.

I was told (when I had free dining) that I could upgrade even after free dining was over. I wanted to upgrade to CSR but wasnt sure I could afford it

I was told the same thing. I was trying to upgrade from Pop to any moderate and there was nothing available. I asked the CM if I could upgrade after the promotion is over (which was June 24th). She said absolutely. We may have to get Guest Services involved, but if a room with Free Dining becomes available, you can definitely make the change.

I have since decided to just keep our reservations at POP. Most of the reviews of POP are very favorable and I'm going to save the $600 (we need two rooms).
