Okay quick question. We were debating on whether or not to stay at a moderate or value resort and finally booked our trip in September to the Moderate--with the Dining Plan. We are now rethinking this given some of the feedback and threads we have seen about kids and staying at the value resorts instead. We have a 3 year old and a 6 year old and everyone is telling us to do the value resorts for the kids.

Anyone know how Disney handles changing the reservations and if they really stick to charging change fees to reservations. Obviously switching from a moderate to value will be cheaper and all the verbage states they can charge this and that for changing reservations.

Do they really end up charging you for these type of changes?

I recently changed from a ASMu to POP and did not get charged a fee. However, I changed from a Value to a Value so maybe that was the difference. It really wasn't a big hassle, I just told the CM my original reservation # and she switched us to the new hotel. Make sure though that if you do switch they get your requests changed over to the new reservation (i.e. no smoking etc). Mine did not get switched and I need to call and have it added to my reservation since I have asthma. Good Luck!

Welcome to the DIS, Max'sMom!

It really will depend on how close your trip is. If you have already made you final payment, I would guess that they would probably charge you some kind of a few for downgrading.

To be honest with you, I'd stick with the moderate. The moderates are very nice, and you'll have a fridge in the room so you'll be able to have milk, juice, water, etc. if you stop at a grocery store.

I changed mine from ASMu to Pop because the Pop standard view was not available when I originally reserved, but came open later. The CM told me that at 45 days or more from checkin, there is no fee. Under 45, I believe she said $50 + $10.
