I am taking my DD16(she will be 17) on a trip next August- just us 2. My home is AKV, but we want to stay at a Poly studio for our trip. I know I can book AKV at 11 months, however, am I allowed to change it to Poly at 7 months (pending availability). I know the Poly studio will be more than the AKV one, just making sure its "allowed". Thanks for any answers to this.

with the current system, modifying your reservation can be done online. You don't need to call Member Services anymore. It's quite easy to do. You go to your Dashboard and look at your booked Vacation plan. Click the View/Modify Details, then I believe your reservations details will be broken up into sections: Date/resort, names on the reservation, etc. You click "Modify" next to the date/resort, then choose your new dates/rooms and follow the directions. Easy Peasy.

At 7 months a point is a point and you can change your reservation to any of the other DVC resorts that are currently open. Riviera is where a distinction starts and it depends on how you purchased your points and when. Any difference in points requirements will either be taken or returned depending on if the reservation requires more or less points.

For a little more info - there's also no fees for changing anything about your reservations until you get at the 30 days or less. And even then there's no monetary fee - just a restriction on rebooking with the points where they are placed into holding and you can only book a reservation that is within 60 days of the date you book. Holding points also can no longer be banked and if not used prior to the end of your UY they would expire.

Yes it is allowed and chances are you should have no problem getting a room at the poly. But just be careful you might fall in love with the Poly. We own AK too and booked a split stay 3 nights Poly and 4 AK -- we fell in love with the Poly. It is a much different feel than AK. We loved the fact that you can walk around the resort, walk over to GF and you can look out and see the castle. There is something a bit more magical about the poly. Enjoy your time there! You'll have to plan going into trader Sam's - under 21 can go in until 8pm. Just a neat experience going in there.
