Changing reservations?

We are planning to go to WDW next october, we want a grand villa in OKW but our home resort is AKL. If I reserve a 2 bedroom at AKL 11 mos. out and then call at the 7 mo. mark to try for an OKW villa will I have any trouble changing the reservation? I want to book at AKL early so I know we will have a place to stay, but given the point cost I would rather have the larger place at OKW. Thanks in advance for any responses, and any other advice, we are brand new to DVC.

You won't have any trouble changing the reservation, as long as there is availability. The OKW GVs are very popular so you never know if one will be available for your stay. As long as it is you'll be able to switch the reservation.

Something to keep in mind....if the reservation at AKV is more points than the OKW reservation and you need to borrow points, make sure you don't borrow more points than the OKW reservation will take or you'll have to use them before the end of that use year or lose them.
