Changing reservations and deposit

I understand that if you go from a BB offer to FD it's an entirely new reservation and you have to put down another deposit. Or at least that's what the CM told me. What if your original credit card that was used for the first deposit no longer exists? We put down our first deposit several months ago and had to get new cards since then with a new number. Thx!

I'm not sure, but when I changed my reservation, the deposit transferred from Reservation #1 to Reservation #2.

This is not exactly the same, but last year we booked CRT with one credit card at 180 days, but then later added the dining plan (we were staying DVC). The credit card we originally used to book then got compromised (not by Disney) and we were issued new cards. When we checked in at the restaurant, they credited the payment we made when we'd booked 6 months before with our old card to our new card, since the old card was no longer open. I'm sure that if Disney can't just transfer your deposit, they would do the same thing for you.

The cc company or bank would need to apply the refund to your current account or issue you a check if you don't have one.
