Changing reservation to add free dining

I called the disney hotline to see if my reservation could be credited for free dining. I was told that it couldn't because I am booked for 8/25 to 8/31 and since the 25th isn't included in the free dining. I said that I would pay for the one night of dining, but she said it was not possible. She said that you can't have part free dining and part paying for dining. I thought this was wrong because I have read on these boards that it could be done. I said that how about doing a room only reservation for the 25th and then the plan on the 26th..no again...Then she said that since I booked on the internet, that I could not make the changes. HUH????? Also, because I am paid in full that is a problem....She said I could cancel my reservation and then make another reservation, but she can't guarentee pop. I was taken aback by the rudeness of the agent on the phone...After she said something, I said "Really?" and she mockingly said "Really". Should I try calling again? I am not the type to cause problems, but I really want to make this as magical as I can for my daughter and saving on the dining would be great. Thanks!

You could do it but it will be difficult. Are your dates set in stone?

If they are you could book a room only on the 25th and then book a package starting on the 26th but you wouldn't have park passes for the 25th unless you bought them separately.

You would have to cancel the reservation you have now and re book a new reservation. I have heard pop is sold out for many dates but I am not sure which ones.

You could try & make the new reservation first then cancel the old one but you also have to do a room only ressie for the 25th.

As the others said you would have to rebook and make two reservations. The first a room only and the second a pkg for the free dining. The only thing is then you would have to buy park admission for that first day and then also buy at least a one day MYW ticket for the second pkg reservation as both rack rate room and at least a one day park ticket is required to get the pkg. They would not allow you to book say a seven day ticket for the pkg and then get it and use it a day early for the room only part of your reservation (if that makes sense).

If it were me, I would definitely call back and see if you can get more help from someone else. It sounds like the CM that you talked to didn't want to help you no matter what. I understand how frustrating it is, as I had this happen on Thursday when I was trying to get my existing reservation changed to free dining. Just FYI, I made my reservation online and had no problem getting it changed once I found a CM who would help me. I encountered several rude CM's the other day, so don't feel like you did anything wrong!
