I am deciding how to take money for our trip. I am planning to pay for most things with cash. Not sure how much we'll be spending so will take some euros but also pounds in case we run out of euros! Where will we get the best exchange rate changing pounds to euros in france? Is there somewhere near the parks or val d'europe? Or is it better to change more before we go?

I would personally change up more before you go as you are likely to get a better rate.

However you can change money up in the Hotel New York, i'm think you can in others I just know this one for definate. I know there used to be a place you change money up in the Village, I assume it is still there.

Nikki:)

We always take euros so have never had to change. There is a bureau de change in The Disney Village and one in Studios in the Frontlot just as you go in .

Just an idea.

We are off to Paris this weekend (not DLRP just Paris) and someone sugested to us take some euros but if running low to use a cash machine as we should then get euros at the commercial exchange rate.

Not 100%, but that's what we have been told.

Hope this helps.

If not have a magical time anyway and just blow the lot on your credit card - after all it's not a real disney holiday if your saving up for six months before and still paying off your card six months after.

It depends on what debit card you use because I think most will charge for the transaction unless you have a Nationwide card.

Not sure how up to date this information is but found it on another site.

Where can I exchange currency?
The Disneyland® Park provides two places for you to change your money: a foreign exchange desk at the entrance to the Park, an Information / exchange point at City Hall. The Walt Disney Studios® Park provides one place for you to change your money: Studio Services at the entrance to the Park. There is also an American Express office in Disney Village.

Hope it helps, I'm sure someone can confirm deny

While planning for our European Excursion this July, guidebooks have been pretty unanimous in advising using cash machines. There may be a transaction fee, so it's best to get it done in a single transaction rather than getting a little out every day. Currency exchanges in high tourists areas tend to be the worst with fees and commissions, and I'm going to speculate that DLP qualifies as a high tourist area.

A bientot.

Thanks for your replies.

Does anyone know if the cash machines in france take abbey debit card? Are there cash machines in the parks. This would be safer in that we would not be carrying around so much cash so will probably do this. I don't want to change too much money before we go. Last time I changed too much and then lost again converting it back to pounds.

What is an abbey debit card?

I have always used cash machines in Europe. My credit union doesn't charge us fees for doing so, and it's supopsed to get the best exchange rate.

If it has the Cirrus or Maestro symbol on the back it won't be a problem, check with Abbey what their fees are using it abroad.
