It has been a long time since we flew and had to change planes and I can't remember if I have to print a boarding pass for each leg of the flight or if my originating boarding pass will also get me on the 2nd flight. We fly out of Austin and will change planes in New Orleans. Will I have to check in for both flights or will I be checked in for the 2nd flight once I check in for the 1st flight?

You check in once at 24 hours from the first flight.

At that time you can also print both boarding passes (you will need 2)

If you lose your second boarding pass before getting on the plane the agents at the counter can get you a new one (yeah I've done that...)

If you have the phone ap for southwest, you can display your boarding pass on the phone, which can be scanned to get on the plan.
