Changing MYW from 6 to 7 days

I want to change 4 park hoppers (part of a package) from 6 to 7 days. The travel agent said $150, but there is only about a $15 difference between each of the tickets, so I was thinking $60. So I plan on waiting until we check in to the first park and going to guest relations and adding a day, which should be cheaper, but I am wondering about fastpasses.

So we are now planning seven park days, and our "extra" day is the first day. Right now I have days 2-7 booked with fastpasses on our 6-day ticket. If I check into the park on Day 1 before adding a 7th day to our ticket, will it erase fastpasses on one of our other 6 days? If so, is there a way to add a day before going into the park?

We don't care much about getting advance fastpasses for Day 1, we are going to DHS mostly so my son can do Jedi training and my husband can see some shows. But we do care about not losing fastpasses on other days.

Thoughts?

1. You need a new TA (seriously.) This is basic stuff.
A TA for a WDW trip needs to be schooled in WDW rules. (Especially tickets.)
2. The cost will be $15 per ticket, plus tax.
3. You CAN do the upgrade anytime before your trip, if you like, because you have Package tickets.
4. There will be no difference in price doing the upgrade then or now.
(If you are too close to your arrival date, there can be moderate "late change" fee.)
5. Nope.
6. No difference in price adding the day before or after you enter the park.
7. You won't lose any FP.

You just need to go to any Guest Relations on your "new" day-1 and ask to have your package tickets activated one day early... and right then, add a day to your tickets.
Then, you can make FP+ for that first day, if you like.

Thanks for the encouragement that it could be done- I pressed her a little, and she called someone and she is able to add it, just $64 total! So my husband can see his shows, son can be trained as a Jedi, and I might try to sneak in a toy story fast pass.

Our travel agent is not that experienced with Disney but is a family friend. Before we booked, I carefully double-checked everything online to make sure the cost wasn't more than just booking through Disney's website. Which I realize defeats the purpose of using an agent...

Not to derail the topic but I'm in a similar situation, I booked thru a t.a for 8 day park tickets although its not a myw package its a resort booking with park tickets added on. But now we've added an extra resort day and when we inquired as to adding an extra day of tickets she said that was not possible. Is that something I can just call Disney direct to add an extra day? Thank you in advance.

I'm also curious about this. Can you add extra park tickets to a myw free dining package? If you can how far in advance does it have to be?

If you did not buy a "resort package including tickets," you must wait to add the extra day(s) to the tickets
until you are at WDW. Go to any ticket booth or guest relations (or to a WDW resort concierge desk) and you can add 1 or 2 days to an 8-day ticket for the cost of $5 per day, per ticket, plus tax.

You can add any number of "days" to a resort package ticket (up to a grand total of ten days per ticket, maximum)
at any time before your trip. (You may have to pay a small "modification fee" if you do the upgrade too close to your trip.)
You will not have to pay any modification fee... other than the actual cost of the added day(s,) if you wait to add the days after you arrive at WDW.

Ours is the free dining package. We are on a 5-night free dining package, and we had six park days initially; now we are planning 7. We booked an additional night (room-only) in a different resort hotel.

We had a free dining package last year. We went to guest services at MK, activated our tickets early, and added an additional park day. Super easy.

I'm glad to know we can add a park day before we even walk through the gates the first time (when activating early). We might end up in that situation so it's good info to keep handy! :)

Following this too as I booked a seven day and would like to add another day or two. I was planning to just wait until I get there, but now I'm thinking I may call Disney and see if I can add them now. I'm about two weeks out and I booked everything directly through Disney.

The DIFFERENCE is that you need to have booked the tickets as part of your resort stay in order to upgrade the tickets before you arrive.

If you booked "room-only" through Disney, and bought your tickets separately from the resort booking,
you need to wait until you are at WDW in order to upgrade the tickets.

Also, since your trip is in two weeks, it is quite possible that if you CAN update your tickets in advance,
you may have to pay the "change fee" on top of your ticket upgrade cost.

There is no "change fee" when upgrading tickets in-person.

Glad I still I do this myself. I feel helpless with a TA in tow unless I'm leaving the country.

Thanks for the info!! It was booked as a package during a bounceback. I figured I'd wait until I get there to upgrade, I have done that in previous trips. That was until I read this thread and thought, hmm, maybe I could just upgrade now. Thanks for the heads up though on the change fee if I call now, I never thought of that!! Love this board!!
