Ok, does anyone know whether you can change your travel insurance for your holiday?? The reason I ask is when I went to book my holiday at the travel agents I was going to use Virgins travel insurance as I was going with them for my holiday however the lady at the travel agent put me down for their insurance as she said that they were doing an offer on it that day and it would only cost £25 for the two of us as opposed to £115 which it normally would have been and me being quite naive having never booked a holiday abroad or even been abroad didn't object as I though it sounded pretty good. However when I read through the policy when I got home I noticed it only gives medical cover for £1 million each and I heard that you should have at least £2 million. So can I change my insurance as my holiday is not till December and the other question is should I change it or stick with that travel insurance.

Thanks

You CAN change it, never be bullied into taking the particular travel agents or tour operators insurance, but check they won't charge you an 'admin fee' to take it off, just say you didn't realise but you've already got travel insurance with your bank account!!! they won't know the difference, also 1 million cover per person is fine for the states so don't worry about that. I do think it was reasonably priced but check on excess fees should you claim you don't want to claim for £100 and have to pay £75 out of that in excess fees.

You insurance sounds ok. If you are going to change don't go with Virgin. We booked out holiday with virgin last year so we thought we would take out their insurance :guilty: Its an underwriter who you take out the insurance with. We were due to go September last year but because of the hurricanea we were unable to fly. Virgin themselfs gave us our money back with no problems but part of the holiday was a flydrive and we had booked a private villa. It took several letters and numerous phone calls to the underwriters to get our money back as they said we were not covered for this. Eventually after 3 months we got the money back.

We have rebooked to go in june and were still going with Virgin but we have taken out insurance with our bank. Marks and Spencers have a very good insurance too.

I'm sure you will be fine.

M&S insurance is good. Not the cheapest but we had no trouble claiming on it when we got home - cheque was in my hand by the end of the week :sunny:
