Changing hotels ? Luggage question

So we're flying in late on a Wednesday night to get a great deal on a flight. Vacation/reservation doesn't start till Thursday. Unable to get a room only tacked on to our stay since our hotel was booked, so only option was off site or stay at Wilderness cabins, which we opted for just because we haven't experienced that in our many trips to Disney. So check out is at 11 am and check in for our Thursday reservation of course is at 3. Will we be able to have our luggage transferred to our second hotel or will we have to bus it there ourselves? We only will have carry ons, not that it matters but I wasn't sure since once we check out of WL on Thurs morning we were going to head straight to MK. Just wasn't sure what would become of our bags....

Bell services will take your luggage and transfer it to your new resort. It usually takes at least several hours for it to make it to the new resort, but you don't have to transfer anything yourself. I have heard that some arrive at their new resort and their luggage is already in their room, but we had to call bell services when we arrived in our new room and they brought it right up.

We had to split our last stay at 2 hotels for the same reason. They took care of it, but as someone else said, we did have to call to get our luggage bc it was not waiting for us when we got there. That would be my only complaint. We came back from a long park day, it was late, and no luggage. We had to keep the kids up late to wait bc we didn't have our things to bathe them or their pajamas. So I would recommend arriving at your second location with time to wait for you luggage, if the same thing happens to you.

I know it's a pain, but there could be reasons they don't leave the luggage in the room. If someone checks in and during the check in process they decide they would like a different room or location, what happens then? Your luggage is sitting in another room. I agree it's not so fun getting to the second resort and not having the luggage right there at your finger tips. I just wonder if they leave themselves at less risk if they keep it at bell services until you arrive.

I can tell you an experience we had once. We checked in, went to our room, only to find someone else's luggage sitting there waiting for them. We could have taken anything we wanted.

Only Magical Express delivers luggage to an empty room. When you transfer your luggage between resorts with Bell Services it will arrive late afternoon at the new resort. You have to call for it once you are in the room. That is the policy of the offered luggage transfer service. It is not an oversight, but something you need to plan on if you choose to use this service.

Thank you for all your kind responses. I am looking forward to our brief but necessary stay at the cabins!! We've been to Disney many times but never split the stay. I knew I could count on
Disboards for an answer :):thanks: :disrocks:

I definitely recommend coming back to the hotel and calling for your luggage to ensure you get it for the night. When we checked out of the WL, I told them all our info about transferring. Made sure to tip the people! Then, we checked into the YC later on during the day. When I called to get our luggage, oh, they hadn't even received it from WL. I understand they only do this like once a day, but it was after 6pm. I was told they would have to go retrieve it from WL. We were heading out to dinner, so after dinner we had to come back instead of heading to the parks and again call for the luggage.

One thing to remember is that you are not allowed to take luggage on the Disney park buses. So that part of your plan wouldn't have worked out anyway. Take whatever you might need for the day out of your bags, and have Disney transfer them for you. It is super easy.

I did not know that. When I asked about it at AoA, they told me it would be in the room at ASM when we arrived the next evening. The CM must have just made a mistake. I know I specifically asked about that. I will now know for next time that this is the usual process. Thanks!
