hello all. i have been a member at Magictrips for sometime and checked out this site. Very informative place....

my question... i am planning our 25th anniversary trip for my DW and I. Already have a DDP in our ressies "pd in full". Can i change to a DELUXE DDP plan at arrival?

I am still undecided about it and not sure about the total funds we will have on our trip.

I doubt it since deciding whether you want the dining plan or not at all has to be done several days prior to arrival, so I doubt they would allow you to change to the DXDP on arrival. Since the plan does not go into effect till the first of the year, not sure if anyone knows yet for certain.

:welcome: to The DisBoards! My list of places to book would most definitely depend on which DP I was getting. :upsidedow For example, the Deluxe plan will give you the opportunity to have a Signature Dinner each night of your stay as well as a TS or CS. Even if you could switch to the Deluxe Plan on arrival, I wouldn't since your ADRs will need to be made before your trip-preferrably 180 days out. I would choose a plan now and make my ADRs accordingly. Am I making sense?! :rotfl:It's been a long day!

When I called last week, inquiring about the Deluxw Plan, the CM said I would have to decide before my final payment was due. ( I think that's 45 days prior to arrival)

I am certain it could not be upgraded at check in.
Normally the DDP can be added three days prior to arrival, if you booked through Disney.
Call Disney and ask and see what your restrictions and time limit is. Don't wait until the last few days before your arrival. Otherwise you will probably have to stay with what you now have.

Disney doesn't charge any change fees if you go to a more expensive package. You should be able to change from the DDP to the dlx plan a few days before you arrive. I'm not sure if it's 3 or 5 days.

You may not be able to keep a discounted room rate such as AAA. I wouldn't wait if you have any type of promotional package, even if it's just a ticket upgrade promotion, but I wouldn't hesitate to wait if you're paying full rack rate.

full rack rate here....its just that we may want a couple of signature dining experiences requiring 2 ts credits.....or do you think i will come out ahead paying out of pocket for some and keeping the reg plan. we have 4 in the party going but the 2 teens with us wont ever use up all the TS credits in the deluxe plan.

im wanting to do CGrill and APoint with my wife for our 25th anniversary and day.

With 2 teens, depending on how they eat, they may very easily be able to use up all the credits on the deluxe plan. They can use 2 TS credits for poolside pizza delivery at your resort--I believe they'd get a pizza, 2 salads, 2 beverages and 2 desserts. If they do that while you're at CG and AP, they've used up half of the extra credits.

Also remember that the credits in the deluxe plan are also good at CS restaurants. Even if the teenagers won't do as many TS meals as their parents, they may very well need more CS meals to fill them up. Though not as good a deal as doing all TS meals, it's probably cheaper than paying OOP for a bunch of extra meals for teenaged eating machines!

Have a wonderful anniversary trip, and welcome to the DIS!
