Changing FP+ due touring plans recommendations?

" So I guess I should optimize and then move around to accomodate my existing fastpasses? Then have it recalculate times and use that plan as a loose guide, maybe??"

Yes. Add in what you want to try to do, optimize to see what it suggests but then you need to play around with it some by moving the events (on a laptop - but not ipad/phone - you can drag the events which is much easier) and evaluating.

Our TP has us doing Speedway before 10 - about a 15 min way around 9:40 so it seems likely that it would be a really short wait if you're doing it almost first thing.

Since you have 2 MK days, my rec is always to split the park in two rather than try to do the whole park both days. Makes your FPs and walking so much easier.

Yes, this is what we are doing as well. I love TP but surprisingly I'm not using it at all for our trip next month. It was honestly easier for me to sit down with paper park maps and plan out our days (and I'm such a "non-paper" person I had to laugh because usually anything on the computer is easier for me). I made some attempts with TP and chose "minimize walking" and "relaxed" walking speed because we have 4 preschoolers (in strollers) in the group. But things still weren't coming out quite right as far as the zigzagging.

Then I created four completely separate plans since we are doing MK on 4 different days. I have FL only on one day, FL and Tomorrowland on another, Frontierland and Adventureland on the third and hadn't gotten to the 4th one when I realized I had spent so much time looking at FP options and showtimes and bathroom locations and possible QS that I was quite capable of creating my own plans! I was very strategic about not backtracking in my plan but of course we will if something catches one of the kids' interests. But I didn't want to set out with a plan that involved backtracking just to save 4 minutes. I still like TP but it just wasn't working for our upcoming trip for me

Sounds like you are going to be moving things around anyway, so perhaps your original question is irrelevant now, but:

Yes, there will be almost no wait for Speedway at 9:16. Everyone will be running for 7DMT, Space, Splash, BTMR and Peter Pan. And yes, an hour or two later there will be a longer line for Small World. So if that is the order you are going with, definitely no need for a Speedway FP and it would be very smart to get one for Small World.

We use Touring Plans (but use evaluate, not optimize) and it is almost always very accurate.

As a non-planner I have to ask. For those of you who use detailed, timed plans like this, what happens if you get behind schedule?

What if a ride has a small breakdown and you’re on, say, Pirates for 20 minutes longer than the plan gives you?

Is your whole plan now moot? Help me understand how something like this is a benefit. No snark, I genuinely don’t understand.

I think people usually say that you should "optimize" to have the system calculate the new best order to do things in. In practice, those who don't like to optimize for whatever reason (e.g. bouncing around the park too much) say they skip a step to get back on track.
