Changing flight with Southwest

I am having a terrible time getting decent flights on the days we want at a reasonable (I'm not even talking cheap, just reasonable) fare. Currently we are flying in and out of Tampa, spending just a couple of days at Disney and the rest of the time in Jacksonville with family. Today fares went down somewhat leaving Jacksonville so I wanted to change that portion of our flight (into TPA out of JAX). Southwest won't let me change my outgoing city. Can I cancel the reservation and book a new one? It would cost $120 more to fly out of Jax instead of driving back to Tampa. If you were in our situation would you even consider spending the extra money to save the drive back to Tampa? Rental car cost is pretty much exactly the same whichever way we go. Thank you!

Yes, you could cancel and rebook using your credit. What I like to do is always book one way flights. It helps you be more flexible if fares change.

TPA to JAX is a long trip! If I could fly out of Jacksonville for an additional $500, I would to save the 4+ hours on the road.
