why offer it if they don't want ppl to use it? I don't understand how that's a good strategy? I thought a discount was to encourage ppl to go to wdw?!

Yes, the discount will encourage people to book.

Then when you want to shorten or lengthen your stay, the discount is taken away. At that point, how many people just decide to cancel the trip? (Not many, I bet.)

So the discount entices people to go. And then Disney ends up not having to give you the discount. Brilliant but very irritating strategy on their part.

Very true. I was about to cancel and then found out I was pregnant, so we decided to go so we could have one last trip with our daughter, just "us three". But I've learned my lesson with BB. We either won't book it again, and stay at a less expensive resort, or if we do a BB I'll book it for a shorter time frame. However, we won't be returning until at least 2017 or 2018. 4 trips in 2 years is a lot for our family!

I booked the Annual Passholder discount for this current December 5-14 (or something like that) because I could get the discount for those dates (but not for the 5th to the 10th [our actual dates]) and then called them to shorten it to December 5-10 and the CM on the phone said "let me ask Guest Relations" and then came back and said it was fine and shortened the trip for me INCLUDING the discount. I think i got some great Pixie Dust.

I booked the "free dining" promotion this year. I called back a couple days later and had no problem adding a day. I wonder if the issue is with dropping days.
