I just got an email from my coordinator saying that the Whitehall room has been booked by a convention on the 2nd of March 2011 :scared1:

so now I'm faced with either changing my date, or changing my reception location.

The pro's and con's of changing my location are:

Pro:
The St. James Room is pretty, matches my colours, and also has a patio for a little extra space.

Con:
St. James Room is at the Boardwalk and I was sorta hoping to have everything at the Grand Floridian - ceremony at WP, reception at WHR and dessert party at SCP.

Pros & Cons of changing my date:

Pro: I'd still get my preferred venues.

Con: I'd have to change the date with Misty, *** I've already booked her...

What would you do?

Are there other rooms at the Grand Floridian?

I don't really like the Napa room, because I don't like the menus.

I'm going to have a chat to DF about it, but I want to make sure I know all the possibilities first.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened! You could use a section of the Grand Floridian Ballroom or the St. Augustine Room. There is also the Key West room, but I'm not sure if that would be big enough. I don't know if you don't like the decor in those rooms, to be honest I'm not really crazy about it but I think with the right lighting and when it's all set up it will look quite nice. We're using St. Augustine.

There are also ballrooms at the Contemporary, that you could probably use, but if you're going to go with a ballroom, it's probably just easier to stick with the Grand Floridian.

Could you reach out to Misty and see if she's even available on a different date? That could help you make up your mind. If she's available the alternate date then you can still have everything you want.

If you did St. James room you could switch to an Illuminations Dessert Party, not sure if that works with your timing though.

I vote for the St Augustine room as well, we will be having our reception there, it is rather cute, doesn't have the windows, but if you want the dessert party after at SCP it is a pretty nice alternative. Has some nice murals and you would have it all still contained within the GF.

I am so bummed for you! Hmmm... have you considered the Attic? It is beautiful, and all the wonderful pics you can take in the Boardwalk area with Misty would be priceless.

You could try and time it with Illuminations so you could see the fireworks from there or have a dessert party at EPCOT?

Or change the date altogether, if Misty isn't booked yet on the 3rd I think that would be a good route, but you have to make sure to get in contact with her as soon as possible so you can figure it out.

I've sent an email to Misty to see if she's available the days on either side of the 2nd. If she's not that will make the decision for me. I also asked her to recommend any other reception locations that she thinks might suit. So I'll wait to see what she says.

In the mean time I'm looking at pics of other rooms. Do you have any more pics of Augustine then what's in your PJ?

Anyone else have any photos? Maybe even for the Grand Floridian ballrooms?

Thanks

We ran into the same issue when our guest list got too large for the WHR. We also wanted to keep it all at the GF.

We ultimately decided on Narcoossee's, even though the chairs did not match our colors (purple) at all. In reality, only the seat cushions had a nautical color. And that was hidden under the table. We had about 65 guests and they all fit on the lower level. It wasn't crowded at all. That left the upper for cocktail hour, and after that was cleared, dancing.

You could also use Citrico's. Both have gorgeous natural light and I think the gold colors inside Citrico's would compliment your color scheme.

Of course, to use either of these, your reception has to be done by 4 or 5, I think. People were walking out of ours by 2:30, so it wasn't a big deal. They knew they were coming back for the DP later, and it gave everyone a chance to take a break.

This wedding was at Citrico's.

Thanks, I did look into those options, but we were hoping for a dinner reception.

I think we're going to change our date to the 3rd. Misty is available and it should give us a little more time before the wedding to get everything ready.
