I have a couple of childrens park hopper passes, and my kids are now older. If I have them change to an adults, will they remain a park hopper pass, or will they be turned into a MYW pass, with the appropriate features (IE, hopping, with plusses remaining and no expiration)

I don't want them to become MYW because of the scanning, so I could have anyone in our family use them. ALthough, with only 1 or 2 days left on each, I guess it really doesn't matter.......it's more the principal of the thing!

Upgrading your tickets won't change the type of ticket it is - it will stay a hopper pass, but you will pay the difference between a child's price and the adult price. No worries.

"upgrading" probably isn't an appropriate term (only thing I could think of)

Wait, I though that Disney didn't charge you when your child "aged up" from a child's pass to an adult pass?

I was pretty sure on this as I was planning to do this with DD's hopper pass. Now I am not sure. Anyone know?

You do not pay anything extra to exchange the child ticket for an adult one as long as the ticket has been previously used. If the ticket is an unused one, then you will have to pay the price difference.

What you need to do is bring the child's ticket along with the child to a Guest Relations location at the major parks or DTD. If the Guest Relations CM is satisfied that the dates of use of the original ticket and the current age of your child make sense, you will have the leftover child's admissions exchanged for the identical adult admissions at no further charge to you.

I'm not sure if it's necessary to do anything if your child has "aged out" of a child's pass. In 2003, DS used the last day on his child's pass from 1989, when he'd been 6 yo. I'm sure you can do the math and realize that he was a 20 yo, using a child's pass (and a 20 yo who looks older-rarely even gets carded for liquor). He just went to the front gate at MGM with it and, although I had receipts to prove our family had been there in 1989 (I save everything from WDW!), they never questioned anything, just let him right in.

They don't charge for the upgrade---I did this last August when my ds had turned 10 between visits. However, I went to Guest Services inside Epcot, and after the ticket had been changed the guy tried to make me pay for the upgrade. I said no, there's not supposed to be a charge (I had even called Disney ahead of time and verified the policy). He found a supervisor or someone who was more familiar with the transaction, and in the end I wasn't charged. Just to let you know though....

If you have a childs ticket that has days used on it already, you will NOT have to pay the difference between the cost of the child's ticket and the adult ticket (Disney doesn't charge kids for growing up!). If the ticket is unused, then you will need upgrade that ticket to an adult ticket and pay the difference.

 Great to know! I had misinformation - sorry I passed it on.
