Changing cash to a points ressie

If you own at two resorts and book a stay at the 11 month window (home resort) on points and cash can you then turn around at the 7 month window and switch your cash portion of the ressie to points from your other resort (if there is availability?) Hope this is clear.

You can not actually "change" a cash reservation to a point reservation. What you can do is see if their is point availability at 7 months, make the ressie, then cancel the cash reservation...then link the new reservation with your original point reservation so there is a "seemless" stay.

In essence, it accomplished the same thing, but there is a "procedure," rather than simply making cash nights into point nights. And that is assuming there are point nights available at 7 months for your dates.

Note that cash and points are two seperate inventories - when you release the cash room it isn't available for points - its a cash room and stays a cash room. So this isn't a good way to "hold" a room.

It's just a good "back up" plan to make sure you actually have a room at the same resort for your entire vacation. If you book the cash room via MS, you won't have to change rooms and you may even get a discount.
