changing a flight with travelocity

We are booked on Air Tran with Travelocity. We wanted to take an earlier flight as our flight arrives at 9 pm. I called Air Tran and they said I had to deal with Travelocity. I called Travelocity and they said no changes can be made. I thought changes were possible, and sometimes a fee of $75 per ticket would apply. Did I just get someone who doesn't know what they're doing?

What does your confirmation with Travelocity say about changes?

It says there may be a charge of $75, but that is not what the rep said on the phone. Thats why I'm not sure if I had a rep that doesn't know.

I booked our March trip through Travelocity and on our e-ticket it plainly states:

Change Policies
- Your ticket is non-refundable.
- If you change your reservation, airlines may charge a fee to use your ticket as credit for a new reservation. This fee varies by airline, market, and specific fare rules, and may be CAD 150 or more for domestic tickets and CAD 200 or more for international tickets.
- Some tickets do not allow any changes.

... so yes, you may have purchased a ticket that does not allow any changes to be made.

Not sure when you are travelling, but if not soon, there is a chance they will change your flight anyways. We are travelling in June, and I was scheduled to fly at 1pm, but they cancelled and put me on a 7:30am flight. If they cancel that flight, I will just ask to get a refund. I booked through Orbitz, though, not familiar with Travelocity.
