Hello all,

I am planning a family trip from the UK in June 2008. My home resort is BCV. Can any tell me how the 11 month / 7 month rule works please?

I would like to book

3 Bed for 5 nights SSR,
then 3 Bed Vero for 2 nights,
then last 7 nights in 2 bed at BCV.

Is it possible to book 2 bed for 14 nights in BCV at the 11month window then change it at the 7 month window? I'm just a bit worried that I will end up with no availability at SSR and Vero, if you know what I mean. Hope that makes some sense!!

Many thanks Jilly ( Royal Air Force, England):thumbsup2

OK, at the 11 month window you can book the full 2 weeks at your home resort (BCV). Then, at the 7 month window, you can try to 'switch out' your reservation to wherever you want to be (Vero or SSR)

We are owners in the UK also. We have just booked 14 nights in a 2-bed at SSR for next April, which we plan to try and switch at the 7 month point to a week at BWV and a week at OKW.

Seeing as you want a 3-bed, you will probably need to call day-by-day for your reservation (particularly at the 7-month point) and you may end up disappointed but, at least if you book at your home resort at 11 months you will have somewhere to stay. Feel free to ask again if any of that didn't make sense.

By the way, my husband is in the RAF too - stationed at Lyneham. HOw about you?

Hi Wilma,

Many thanks for the info, I've been a member since 2003 but never had to do this before, so a little unsure how to go about it! If I can't swap for three, do you think two bed would be likely?

I'm at Benson, in my last year of service and planning a nice trip to celebrate next year!!

Do you have any idea if there are school holidays in the USA in June?

Thanks again for your help, hope you have a great holiday.:thumbsup2

I think most of the US public schools are out by early June(southern states sometime in May) We're done next Friday and from looking at next year's schedule it's 6/6/08.

Thank you for that, so if planning a trip in early June do you think it may be best for villa availability to wait until the second week in June?

Personally if we go in June, I'd be heading down as soon as school is out. Reasoing behind this:before it gets to unbearably hot, I can catch a day or two in Dream season. If I had booked this year I would be looking to go either the 9th or 10th.

If you can swing May instead of June, you will have even better chances. Most US schools let out late May/early June and by June, the weather in Orlando can be very hot and humid! On the other hand...it could make it easier to book also. The 3 bedroom grand villas will be difficult to get at a 7 month window either place, but you can always have a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom booked and change if it's available at the 7 month mark.

Wish we could do May, I'm still in the Air Force then, don't leave until start of June, which is why we are coming, to celebrate 24 years service in the military and to ease me into civilian life!!

Also to treat some good friends of ours to a holiday of a lifetime I hope!

I know what you mean. But...the problem is more complex than you may realize.

First the good news. If you book 14 days at BCV at 11 months, you are assured of having someplace to stay for the whole two weeks. BCV is beautiful, and you'll have a great time.

The bad news is that, if you try to make the changes you suggest, you may not have availability anywhere.

You already understand the difficulty of getting 3 bedrooms anywhere at 7 months. What you may not realize is that you may not have any availability at BCV either.

That's because a "change of dates" is really a cancellation and new ressie. If BCV has a two-bedroom available for the new dates you want, you'll be fine. However, if they're booked (or if they have a waitlist for any of those dates), you may be out of luck even at your home resort.

The only way to tell is to try, but I think the odds are against you considering the types of accommodations you are looking for.

Can't you subtract dates from the beginning or end of a reservation without even getting a different number?

IF not, suppose Jillytupevans books 2 BCV weeks, but not linking them, and tries to alter the first week at the day by day 7 month mark. I think she's going to get into SSR and VB, but perhaps not the accomodations that are her #1 choice. We were at VB in March and one family in a BC had booked only 5 months out, so who knows, PD may work!pixiedust:

If you drop days at the end, I guess you could. But if you drop arrival dates, now they're looking for availability on the new arrival date...aren't they? :confused3

Your dropped dates would go to the waitlist, and if there was availability on your NEW arrival date, you would be fine. But if not...?

This sounds like an excellent suggestion to me...

I'm confused!!! BCV is beautiful and we have spent a few weeks here in the past, but was hoping to spend a week here then two days by the sea at Vero, then back to SSR. I will try to book BCV for the two weeks in a 2 bed (Fingers crossed) at the 11 month point, then try to change the second week at the 7 month point, please tell me I won't loose the original booking if I do this?

They don't tell you all this when you join! it can get quite confusing eh? Thank you all for trying to help me out here.

It depends. If you have enough points to book both the BCV and the SSR, then you will not lose the BCV ressie when you book SSR. When you get all your SSR nights, you can cancel the days you don't want at BCV and those points will go back to your account.

On the other hand, if you need to use the points already used to book BCV when making your SSR ressie, then yes, you will lose each night at BCV when you use the points previously used to reserve that night to book at SSR.

Best of luck -- Suzanne
