Hi all!

So I am looking into booking a cruise for next October. The issue is we may or may not be bringing one of our sons. How far in advance can we be make changes without penalty, if at all. Would it be better to reserve a room big enough for all of us, but not add him until later or to include him now and remove him later?

Additionally, I'm considering booking through Costco because the cash card is significantly higher than onboard credit. How easy will it be to work with them on this?

Thanks!!!

It's always best to reserve a room that will hold the maximum number of people you MIGHT have cruising (using everyone's names, even the person who might not come). It can be a problem to add people later, if the lifeboat space is filled, even if your room has enough beds to add another person.

Unless you're booking concierge, if you cancel a person on a booking before the paid in full date, you'll get back all monies paid for that person. Concierge deposits are non-refundable. After the paid in full date, there's a sliding scale of how much you'll get back, based on how far out from the cruise you cancel.

Should be no issue using costco as your travel agent.

You will have to check on your own.

I would actually never trust a TA to check for me.

Do you know if Costco checks for lower prices like the TAs advertise that they do?

I believe you'd have to do that yourself. But it's highly unlikely. DCL rarely lowers fares except after the PIF date when special offers may be released.

Enjoy your cruise!

@GoofyLovingFamily - I have a follow up question for you. Do you know if Costco checks for lower prices like the TAs advertise that they do?

When you're using the Costco site to check prices, be sure you log in and go through the process like you're actually booking the cruise so you get an acurate price. I've always received the same final price from Costco as DCL lists on their website then the cash card on top of that. However, when you search prices on Costco, they often appear higher then the DCL site. You can always find the cruise you want on DCL then call Costco directly to book and confirm the price. Costco has been great with us and always very accommodating with any questions or changes we've had.

Another reason for booking for all possible parties is that you lock in the current price. If you add someone later you will pay the current rate, which with Disney will probably be higher.
