Changes to Raglan Road?

I was wondering if anyone else has heard the rumor that Raglan Road is planning a redesign to appeal to a "younger" crowd? From what I've heard through the proverbial grapevine, an interior remodel may be in the works and...horror of horrors...a change in entertainment to a more "Top 40" style of music, replacing the wonderful traditional Irish acts they have been known for.

My husband and I happen to be personal friends of Paul Duffy, who used to play Raglan Road on Sunday nights. It was from the manager of his pub in Sarasota that we heard of these possible changes.

That would totally stink. I love Raglan Road just the way it is. The food is great. We have always enjoyed great service too. The entertainment is something that we just don't have an opportunity to enjoy everyday and we look forward to it. It would be such a shame to see it dumbed down.

I would chalk that up to a HUGE rumor, as Raglan Road isn't owned by Disney and would probably not change their theme that much, that drastically.

I'm wondering if people are just spewing nonsense due to Pleasure Island clubs closing Sept 28.

I have a hard time believing that an Irish-themed pub would change it's music to American Top 40.

As for appealing to a younger crowd, I can tell you that every time the hubby and I have been there (specifically to listen to the band) the place has been packed with young people having a loud, jolly good time.

It is possible the chain is branching out into another place completly. The additional space soon to open up in the general area.

Thanks for the input. I'm really hoping it's just foundless rumors too. However, I was sad to learn that Paul won't be playing on Sundays anymore. He has apparently been replaced by a "house band" which will be playing that night instead. If anyone has a chance to get by there on a Sunday night, I'd be very curious to hear their opinions on the new act.

Bumping a really old thread, but I'm getting ready to make dining reservations for Raglan Road and my choice is between Sunday and another day.

Was Paul replaced with the house band? Does anyone have samples of either music? DH is really Irish and we went here on our honeymoon and saw the house band band with dancer (who we liked) but if Sunday is just as good, I'd like to try that out this time instead.
