Changes to MK Wishes dessert party-Same Day Reservations

So I have this in 2 weeks but I'm thinking about canceling....is same day still available? If not is there assigned seating? How long do I have to cancel in order to get a full refund?? Please help....
Would love to know how it's been going recently. Ours is less than a month away now.

Cancellation policy is 5 days.

I read in another thread that same-day reservations are no longer available, but no info on whether the ADR folks still have a choice to watch from the Terrace seating or from the hub grass.

Thanks for this info!

I found the thread if anyone's interested in reading the original report - post #85.

My question, as always in things like this...
Just ONE report?

With as "hot" a ticket as this thing is, aren't there more DIS posters who've been at MK
for the Dessert Party lately?

What Disney has been doing recently regarding adding and taking away at a lightning pace,
I don't know how to try to keep up.

By the time one question gets answered, it can seem like the whole ballgame has shifted.

Yes, there's just one report that I've seen on the boards about the same-day reservations no longer being offered. However, I've read a couple of reports about people who attended and saw few or even no same-day guests - so the report (despite being just one so far) doesn't come as a complete surprise to me. I agree, though - hard to keep up or wonder what Disney's thinking with all of the changes so far this year.

We were at the dessert party this past Thursday and I didn't see any same day people there. There were not 2 tiers set up for seating, only one. Everyone I saw had on the same yellow armband.

Did you have assigned seats or did you have to show up early to get good seats?

Why the armbands if no more day of? Just thinking out loud......

They are saying same day is no longer available. If you cancel the dessert party it has to be 5 days before your reservation to get a full refund. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I know they change things but this is what it was. What day are you cancelling, I may be interested?

We did not have assigned seats. A CM walked with us to a table, but we were able to choose the table that we wanted.

I think the armbands are for those who may want to come and go, and for those who want to go to the hub grass. That is my guess anyway.

It's for June 26, I keep going back and forth. I want nice seats but I don't want to wait an hour when we could be doing other things...idk I enjoyed it 3 years ago but I'm not sure if it's worth it...

Well shoot we will be at MK June 25th. Yes I had a reservation but cancelled it because I thought we could do the same day. It is hard to decide, I hate fighting the crowds and staking out a spot so early.

So if they are not doing same day reservations any more, does that mean that reserved guests can now just choose to go to the hub area to actually view the fireworks rather than remain at a table with not such a great view? If that is the case - you get a dessert table, can relax, but also are guaranteed the right to go to the hip viewing space - then I think that is kind of awesome. I would do this.

The armbands also let you come and go so you can go to the bathroom. :)

I wonder if they are going to keep that part of the Hub blocked for the dessert party if they aren't doing same-day anymore.

This used to be such a simple event. Half the price, show up when you wanted because your table was assigned, eat, stand at the rail for the main part, done. Sigh.

The clearly did not downsize the department at corporate that likes to keep fixing things that aren't broken. :rolleyes1
