Does anyone know if I can make changes to my free dining reservation? :confused3 I booked at the Ft Wilderness and after looking at the pictures, I am not too thrilled about staying there. When I booked the reservationist made it sound like I could continue to call and check availability at POFQ where I really want to stay. I am swamped at work and can't spend too much time on the phone, so I thought I would ask the experts. :thumbsup2

You can try but the promo ended yesterday so I am not sure they will let you.

You can change but its based on availability so finding a room at FQ is gonna be near impossible

Just keep checking back...at some point someone will cancel and free up a room. Good Luck!

Yes you can change resorts if one comes open. Keep calling back. Alll they can tell you is nothing there. good luck ! You can even add deluxe dining onto the FD but at an extra cost.

Yes! Continue to call back, esp. around mid July when people have to pay their final payment. Historically, people have posted in years past that they were able to change to their preferred resort. This will require you, most likely unless things have changed, to speak with a supervisor now that the promo can no longer be booked by a res agent at DRC. To the OP, while we have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Ft. Wilderness it probably wouldn't be my first choice for FD as getting to any dining area isn't nearly as easy as going to a nearby food court or restaurant. You can always have breakfast in the room though and save your dining credits for lunch and dinner. If you have a larger party it's nice to be able to spread out and the cabins are cozy and really nice. Basically if you *do* end up staying there vs. switching resorts I don't think you'll be sorry.---Kathy

Do they still let you change resorts and stuff if the promo ended on June 22nd?

If there is availability. You'll need to talk to a supervisor because it is past the promo date. I was able to add a couple days last year to the end of my trip after the promo had ended.

Yes, you can make changes if something else becomes available due to a scenario such as someone cancelling a ressie that had a FD code and thus releasing availability back into the booking system. It normally will require a supervisor though. Last year I started my conversation with "I realize you won't be able to help me find availability for extra nights with the FD promo we have booked as the promo has ended. I would like to speak with a supervisor since I realize that only *they* would have the ability to try and adjust my reservation". I didn't want to get an agent who didn't realize this or insult someone, or not get what I wanted because of system issues. We ended up getting to add two nights. Others posted that they were able to switch from one value resort to another or upgrade/downgrade. This is why I suggested booking something, anything, before the promo ended in the hopes that you could modify. If not there's always the option to cancel before the penalty period begins. Oh...and even after penalty period be sure to check back as there still can be cancellations that would free up your preferred resort or dates.---Kathy

This may be harder then originally thought. The cancelled rooms may go back to rack rate

Not sure how many in your party, but the cabins are great as is FW. With a full kitchen you can do breakfast at home and lunch and dinner out. They are very roomy and have just added new furniture.

FW also has the Chip and Dale sing a long, pony rides, you can see MK fireworks from the beach. It's really nice and relaxing after a hectic day in the parks.

I'm not sure if the rooms go back to rack rate. Last year the supervisor I spoke with told me the rooms still were available for the FD promo ( when I wanted to extend ) and she speculated that they had been cx by another guest. I thought that sounded right as I couldn't imagine they'd *add* more FD rooms after the promo ended but perhaps the cx FD ressies were someone flagged as that type of availability. I'm not sure, and I don't know how to search for last year's posts, only that there were quite a few posters who were able to modify their FD ressie in one way or another. ---Kathy
