Changes To Dining Plans May-June 2015

For your information, appetizer (called Entrée in French) is still listed in the French version (Entrée is Repas principal). So, I don't know if it is the English version that is wrong or if they forgot to remove it from the French version.

Hmm... I'm just speculating here, but since the brochures are a new design for the first time in years (ever?) I wonder if whoever made these just copy/pasted from the regular plan and forgot to add the apps onto the deluxe brochure.

Nobody knows. If it's a mistake, at some point they will revise the brochure but who knows whn.

I think the omission is a delibrate, roundabout survey tactic to gauge reaction every bit as much as the tiered ticketing survey. Rather than asking questions directly from consumers, they are using the data from 2016 booking patterns to determine the answers. The numbers will tell them if it is smarter to play "oopsies" or stick with the change.

I can't see this being a conscious effort to gauge reactions. Until someone on the site pointed out the change, I don't think that most people scanning the document even noticed. While everyone on this site now knows about the change in the literature, does this really apply to the typical Disney guest? I don't see any travel agency sites indicating any kind of change yet.

I don't think that the very educated Disney consumer on the Dis boards is the typical Disney guest.

Spanish: https://wdpromedia.disney.go.com/me...-plans/january-2016-deluxe-dining-plan-sp.pdf

Both do still include appetizers. I couldn't guess at the abbreviations for any other languages or I'd have checked others too. :)

Thanks for sharing! I had actually seen them earlier today, but it didn't seem like anyone was very interested in the info here. I am encouraged by it.

Anybody wonder if Disney execs look at sites like this to see what reactions are when changes are implemented? Just a thought...

Maybe I'm a cockeyed optimist, but I think people spending that kind of money for a prepaid dining plan would look at the brochure, regardless of if they are forum posting kind of folk. Plus, for first/generational timers, would not have significant prior experience or assumptions (ie "the good old days) that can taint expectations.

I do believe Disney looks at forums and Disney fan sites like this, but not necessarily for the reasons we might like (ie Tikiman),

On the issue of sharing credits between adults and children, I just spotted this on my 2016 reservation (which is for two adults)

UK Pkg + FREE Dining
2016 Table Service Meals - Adult, 2016 Table Service Meals - Child, 2016 Quick Service Meals

Therefore it does appear that quick service credits are not split between adult and child.

QUICK SERVICE DINING

  • Guests may substitute any dessert or non-alcoholic beverage choice with any eligible snack, provided it’s within the same transaction. This means that if you don’t want your quick service chocolate cake, you can substitute it with say a side of french fries.
Would love to know if anyone is successful at substituting BOTH their dessert and drink with any eligible snack? I find for the most part, with a few exceptions such as Sunshine Seasons, the quick service dessert are not as good as some of the snacks that you can get (and with the new option of using a quick service at some locations for 3 snacks) I might need to change my game plan.

I just returned from Disney on the QS plan. I tried to substitute both the drink and dessert for side items while eating at my resort. Unfortunately, I was told that I must get a drink and would not be able to substitute a side for it. I was able to get a side salad instead of a dessert every time at any/all locations.

Thanks for the report!

Does that include at the parks? Where did you eat and what did you get for your substitution?

I keep reading that adult and child credits are pooled on the deluxe plan. I got this plan for our December 2014 trip for 2 adults and 1 child. Our last meal was at Hollywood and vine. I had 3 adult credits left. My princess had just turned 4. When the server can back with our bill she stated that since we only had adult credits left she had actually removed the child meal from the bill. Which was nice as she had only eaten most of a mickey waffle and a strip of bacon. But this experience tells me that as of 6 months ago the system DID differentiate between adult and child credits. I have only used the deluxe plan and have never used them for counter service other than grabbing one for that last credit which was adult and i got an adult meal.

I wonder...

Did you say something like "We only have adult credits left, so I would like to use the last one to pay for DD's meal."

And then the CM, with a little pixie dust, removed your daughter's meal so that you could use that last credit on something with a bit more value ... especially since she hardly ate?

When my youngest was 4 her meal was comped at 2 different buffets (we didn't request it) after she ate only mouse sized portions. It was a VERY nice gesture.

No I just told her that we were on the dining plan and she scanned my band and had me enter pin. When she came back that's when she told us that we had 3 adult credits left so she had just charged us for the 2 adults and removed DD so we still had 1 adult credit left.
DD does eat like a bird so I agree it was a very nice gesture.
In fact most meals are so large we end up using either an adult and child or 2 adults per meal for the 3 of us. I usually arrive very early (9am) on check in and we leave at dinner on check out in order to use them all. I will love it if we can share with others not on the plan!!! Or if they would just pool the credits so I don't have to keep track. As we can see from my above posting I have a hard time as I thought I had 2 adults and a child left for the last meal.....

Yep, or a muffin/croissant/cinnamon bun as a "dessert" with breakfast. Given the bounty platter is only $9 anyway and some lunch entrees go up to $15, breakfast really is a bad deal on the DDP.

This^ is why we now just do the regular DP, as we just bring some boxes of breakfast bars/poptarts or the like to eat on the way out the door, and then use QS lunch and TS dinner... or if we have a breakfast, we might skip lunch and eat an early dinner and then snack...
