There's been changes to the Candlelight Processional Narrators. Marlee Matlin and Monique Coleman's dates have been changed and Angela Basset/Courtney Vance have been added for the end of the month.

Nov. 28 - 30: John O'Hurley
Dec. 1 - 3: TBA
Dec. 4 - 6: Brian Stokes Mitchell
Dec. 7 - 9: Virginia Madsen
Dec. 10 - 12: Marlee Matlin
Dec. 13 - 15: Monique Coleman
Dec. 16 - 18: Chita Rivera
Dec. 19 - 21: Abigail Breslin
Dec. 22 - 24: Steven Curtis Chapman
Dec. 25 - 27: Edward James Olmos
Dec. 28 - 30: Angela Basset & Courtney Vance

Still no announcement for the TBA on December 1-3? I'm holding off booking the CP & subsequently the MVMCP to see who is the narrator. I'm a huge Seinfeld fan so John O'Hurley would be nice but if Dec 1-3 has some more more appealing then i'll go to that one instead. So any info on the TBA would definately be appreciated. TIA!

I am so disappointed..I will be there for CP 12/29/08 and was so excited to see Marlee Maitland and now its either Angela Bassett(who I know) but who is Courtney Vance? Oh well, we have seen some great narrators in the past: Jodi Benson, Levar Burton, Gary Sinese, so I guess the show is worth it..hopefully.

Courtney Vance is the soft-spoken African-American actor who you may have seen on Law and Order: Criminal Intent as the DA, on "The Preacher's Wife" as Whitney Houston's husband, or in older movies such as "The Tuskegee Airman" or "Dangerous Minds" (as the hated principal).

Google his name and you can see his picture. He has a lovely speaking voice, so I imagine hearing him speak will make hearing the Scriptures very rich.

Although donaldsgal pretty much summed it up, I just thought I'd add that Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance are married. This is the first time, I believe, that Disney has had two narrators. It should be interesting to hear. Both Bassett and Vance have great speaking voices and I think they would be pretty powerful.

I WISH Monique Coleman's dates had changed... We're going the 13th, and unfortunately she's still the narrator. Blerk.

Thanks...and thanks to the next post..interesting to have a couple be narrators...feel better about the change now, but the whole CP is such a great time either way.

I have a stupid question about CP.
Does it cost extra $$?
Do you need reservations?

TIA!

No, it does not cost extra to see the CP however without a reservation, you may have to stand in line for an hour or more to get a seat. The CP dinner package guarantees you a seat at the American Gardens Theater.

It does not cost extra money. There are three shows each night -- I think it's something like 5:45, 7:00 and 8:15.

While it doesn't cost extra, there is a Candlelight Dinner Package that you can buy that gives you an appetizer, dinner, dessert, and (non-alcoholic) drink at an Epcot sit-down restaurant (prices vary based on each restaurant) and then you get guaranteed seating at a particular show.

The advantage to the package is that non-package people start lining up for the 5:45 show at 1:00 (if not before) and since the people with the dinner package get guaranteed seats, you may be out of luck.

So, I highly suggest that if you plan on seeing the Candlelight Processional that you book a package. Granted, a Disney vacation is a splurge in and of itself, but not having to wait in line for upwards of 5-6 hours is well worth it.

I wish they would announce who will be there December 1-3. Not that it matters because we already have our CP package booked for the 2nd, but it'd be nice to know who to expect. That's less than three months away, I find it weird they don't have anyone for sure yet. Maybe it's a secret for a reason.

And he's Angela Basset's husband. - Sorry, didn't read post #10

I was excited to see Marlee Maitlin, but since you've mentioned who Courtney Vance is, I'm fine with that. I'm still so happy we're getting a chance to go to CP on December 30th!

Personally, I was thrilled to see the changes last week. I get to see Marlee Matlin, which is so much better in my mind than the originally scheduled Monique Coleman. At least, I know that my MIL will recognize Marlee's name. :thumbsup2

Originally going to CP this year was more about letting my MIL have the experience, but now, it's something that I think all three of us will enjoy. :santa:

We'll be going to the Dec. 15 performance with Monique Coleman. I don't know why everyone is so down on her as a narrator. I know she's famous for High School Musical, but it's not like she's going to show up in a Wildcats cheerleading outfit and lead everybody in a rendition of "We're All In This Together." In real-life she's a 30 year old actress, I'm sure she will do a great job and the CP will be as special and magical as in the past.

She's 30?! Wow! I had no idea she was older than I am. She plays 17 very well. Kudos to her. And I agree - I'm sure she'll do a phenomenal job, no matter how "big" she is celebrity-wise. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't know her if she walked up and bit me. My MIL certainly would have no clue. I want for my MIL to know who is doing the narration. I also want to have someone that I know will do a great job.

I have heard good things about Monique from others on the DIS, but for me, it's all about making the MIL happy.

It depends on when you are going. If it's between Christmas and New Years, the standby line will probably be long. But I've gone at the beginning of the month and was able to get in line 30 to 45 minutes ahead and got seated. There have been times when I wasn't planning on seeing it again (later in my trip) but saw there were open seats a few minutes before. It's more of a listening experience than visual so you really don't need to be right upfront. In fact, the one time we did get the package and sat in the front section it was too loud. I prefer farther back. Just watch not to sit behind a tree!

My daughter just informed me she will be be 28 on November 13, per her HSM tell-all book. Either way, she's closer to 30 than 17 and I think she will do fine at the CP.
