 Sad, sad news airline employees...

I just got off the phone with Disney reservations and found out they've made a drastic change to the airline employee discount...

There will be no airline discounts for Walt Disney World resorts in 2007.

I was so shocked! Sounds like the discount is only available at Vero Beach and one other non-theme park hotel.

So sad!!!! The discount made it possible for my DH & I to visit WDW at least once a year and spend our money in the parks.

I don't know what we're going to do now. :confused3 I'm glad we joined AAA this year.

If anyone hears anything different... PLEASE let me know!!!

 :sad1: :guilty: :sad2:  :sad1: :guilty: :sad2:

Well, we just joined DVC and wanted to combine our DVC trips with my airline discount. Was there an official anouncement made? I see that all the interline discount websites are still offering it. Try calling Dargal to see if they can find out more about this. Maybe (fingers crossed) Disney hasn't released them yet. I remember 2 years ago they did not release them until the second week of January. I hope this isn't true!!! :sad2:

I was able to book 4 rooms at the Yacht Club in October 2007 for 50% off.

Have received my confirmations and everything.

I just booked Pop for 6 nights starting March 17th with airline rate. Already have confimation # number too. I would call back and talk with another CM.

I called Dargal and was able to get a discount for a studio at the Villas at the WL. Thanks for the Tip Cocosmom! (I really wanted a regular room at the WL, but they didn't have anything)

ChicagoDisneyFan - when did you book your trip? Was it in 2007 or 2006? I guess I should've called again. I was just so shocked!!!

When I talked to the res agent at Disney, she seemed shocked about the change too. We were on the phone for about a half hour while she was checking. She could see the discount code, but couldn't find anywhere to apply it. That's when the supervisor found the change in the details of the code.

LET'S HOPE!!!

Can retired airline employees get the discount? My FIL worked for Delta for over 30 years and retired 2 years ago.

I'm so happy to hear that you were able to get the airline rate. Glad to hear that Disney is still offering us a discount :cool1:

I think so, give Disney a call and ask.

Being a non airline employee- AND NOT HERE TO GET FLAMED OR START ANYTHING - I dont understand why the discount? But lucky for you to be able to qualify for such a generous discount. And of course if it were offered to me I would jump on it also!

Hey! I just booked an airline rate at Wilderness Campground for a cabin, 6 nts at the end of March!!! WOO HOO!!! So I guess the airline rate still does exist! Thank goodness! Now we can really get excited!!!! Meet me on the countdown board!!!:cool1:

Can you book directly with CRO or do you have to use Dargal? What proof do you need at check-in? Airline employee badge? Just trying to find out details for my FIL. Oh, can he book 2 rooms at the airline rate or just the one for him and my MIL?

I just called WDW and asked for an airline discount. She gave me a Fax number to send a "letter of good standing" from my employer within 48 hrs and she said I have to show my airline ID on check in. Also, there is a cancellation fee - she said I was booking a package with a travel company (? I am not exactly sure what that means - I was talking to a regular CM at the WDW res number) The rate was excellent though..if you PM me I will give you exact details if you like!:)

If only they gave Military 50% off as well...even at SOG the tickets are not really discounted...you really just do not pay taxes....

I am glad the airline employees get a break though...

now could they add TEACHERS??? I would LOVE that!!

I suppose it all has to do with airlines doing discounted rates to Orlando at certain times and perks and yada yada...same as Coke employees...I am glad someone is getting a good deal!!:cheer2:

I apologize for this 'universal question' on this forum, but does anyone know if Universal hotels give airline employees room discounts, like WDW does?
Thanks

Regards
Alves

Hi

Just wanted to know how many airline employees are in your party. I was told I could only book up to two rooms.

Also do you think I can book for 2008 in January already with the discount?

Thanks

Has anyone tried to book something recently I see the orginal post was from beg jan?? We are planning on Sept and this discount is a must for us to be able to afford it! To the poster who questioned why airline employees get this discount, it is just a perk all travel industry people get some type of perk/benefit....:)

We have one current airline employee, and one retired airline employee so we could get 4 rooms at half off. We stayed in 2006 at the Beach Club for $167 a night and 2005 at Boardwalk for about the same rate.

We booked our 2007 trip for the Yacht Club while we were staying at the Beach Club - since we were onsite, they gave us a few extra days to fax in the verifications of employment.

Do you airline employees get the IATAN cards, or is it something different completely? And if it is that card, to the poster that asks about Universal, discounts apply there as well. Pretty decent there IMO!

Have been trying to book TA rates and being told they are not loaded yet....of course one cm said there are none this year!

Has anyone been able to book a TA rate?

No specific card - just faxing a letter of employment within 24 hours of booking along with a photocopy of your valid airline id.

Glad to hear others are still getting the discount. I was so upset when I was told otherwise!

I really wish I would've called back and spoke to someone else. I went through Dargal.com - they were ok - but I didn't realize they charged me a $50 fee (on top of the room charge), and I can't work directly with Disney regarding my reservation. We leave Wednesday (the 31st) and I had to call numerous times to get my Magical Express stuff express mailed to me. Fortunately it arrived last night! Whew!

I have had no problems with TA rates for this year. Even got Grand Floridian for $210 a night for September. May is coming up with $300 a night, but that is MK view. The $210 is Garden View.
