Changes to Airline employee Discount at WDW

Then perhaps the one CM was accurate in saying there were system issues that wouldn't allow them to be accessed yesterday.

they have room only TA rates on DTA but no packages like at xmas where you could get the myw with dining package
its funny you only need a letter from airliners as a TA they want so much more

all TA need is a CLIA card and that is SO easy to get, just take a class for $25 and you are pretty much there. DIsney and Universal both honor the CLIA card. The IATAN is a of course hard to get to. What does the IATAN get TAs anyway? What kinds of discounts? When I was at my old agency, they all said the cards aren't worth anything. I haven't found that to be true at all about the CLIA card, especially where Disney is concerned.

50% for travel industry employees with an IATA card. How can you become a travel agent for $25 and get a clia card? Someone I know did this but paid a few hundred dollars for membership.

I'll have to look in this more, but I don't think the airline discount will work with the dining plan.

Has anyone tried to book something recently I see the orginal post was from beg jan?? We are planning on Sept and this discount is a must for us to be able to afford it! To the poster who questioned why airline employees get this discount, it is just a perk all travel industry people get some type of perk/benefit....:)

My trip was booked in January for late September and I was told the airline discount rates were not available yet, and to call back around April, or so. (I also asked about the 'free dining plan' that was offered last year, and he reminded me that offer didn't come out until late Spring last year,so keep checking.)

I was told by my TA :

"No, Walt Disney Travel Company does not offer any discounts to airline employees. You may be thinking of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels (not Disney owned), which do offer different discounts to government workers, teachers, etc. You can try calling 800-227-1500 for more information."

My dad is an Airline employee and I was trying to see if we could get a rate for PoP when we go down in Dec. :confused3

I would find a different TA - one who knew what Disney really was - cause it sounds like this one does not.......

The airline discount was considered a "package", so the dining plan could not be combined with it (at least the free dining promotion).

You do need to fax a copy of your valid airline ID as well.

I keep hearing different things when I talk to them. I think a PP was correct in saying if you get a cm that doesn't know about the discount, try - try again!

We just booked an airline discount for June. We could only book two rooms. I was told that you had to send a letter of good standing and if you canceled fees would apply. The discounts come out several times a year, kinda like codes. If you can't get a airline discount now, keep trying.

what resort did you book with? Did u use Disney to book or a TA? I guess that I need to call Disney and ask since my TA is giving me the run-a-round.

I called Disney and talked to a CM. She told me that Disney does honor Airline employees and asked me what date/resort. I told her POP during 9-15 Dec, she told me there was nothing available and that I would not be able to use ther discount with the ticket/dining package :sad2:

Guess I'm glad that they didn't have anything available at that time since I'd have to make a decission which to use.

Up until a few months ago I worked for an airline and took advantage of the discount every year....this was always our big dilemma. We've always wanted to try DDP but couldn't add it to our airline rate room so we went witht the room discount. Saving 50% at the Poly wiped out any savings we would have had through DDP but if we stayed at a moderate it was a close call.

I was really bummed about having to pay RAC for our next trip but the bright side was we could finally do DDP (it's perfect for us - we'll save money using it)...then I was blessed enough to get the 40% off code so I'm very excited to almost be getting the airline rate and the DDP at the same time!! I sure do miss those flight bennefits though!
