Safari Steve or anyone else of course:

I picked this up from another site and was wondering is there was anything to it.
Anyone else hear of this?

They are going to refurbish the Jungle Cruise in Oct. and they are going to put in a new hippo that actually bumps the boat they are also going to redo the elephants at the end so they squirt water through the boats and at the gorilla camp they are going to have a water cannon next to the boat so it looks like the little gorilla is shooting at the boat They are also changing the script

Messing with a classic ride, I'd like to try it :-) Might have some mad Guests with the water!
Anyone? Steve? What about it?

(Hey!! What do you know!! My first real rumor since I've been back!!):bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Sounds good to me.

I think they should continually be looking to ADD little things that can give some of these older rides a little new twist.

If they had established a more frequent pattern of these improvements than maybe people would be less anal retentive when it comes to change. In addition to an inexpensive way to shift some attendance around, it would conditioned people to be more receptive. These don't have to be major make-overs just something that at least adds a little to the excitment of going on the ride for the xxxxth time.

I haven't heard anything about the JC except that their boats kept breaking down one day a couple of weeks ago, and the ladies at the dock were entertaining us with rumors, jokes, and stories about how one of them would instantly marry Safari Steve were it not for her fiance who wouldn't be too happy about that...

I think it could work, if it's done right. I like the hippo bumping the boat...:)

This is exactly the kind of thing they need to do more of. Think of this, Jungle cruise doesn't draw them in the way it used to especially with AK. A family who has done MK millions of times is bored waiting for there Fastpass time gets on to kill time. The subtle differences to the ride renew it for them and an old favorite becomes new again.

IT keeps people in the park by upping the number of people on the ride. Yet the expense to build it is low.

These are only two of several improvements that have been suggested by WDI. The new animatronic tarantula near the loading area was the first to be implemented. The squirting is a no go, because the elephants run on regular jungle water, which is unsafe (if you get it in your eyes, ears, nose, or mouth, it's tetnis shot time). The cost of piping in potable water as well as the potential for major guest dissatisfaction shot that one down immediately. The hippo bump is still being considered, as is fire/gunshot effects for the gorilla camp, some new material in the spiel, and the air cannon/blow dart effect (like in Indy @ DL). As far as I know from speaking to Rhonda from WDI (who is in charge of this deal) the only ones close to being implemented are the blow darts (almost definitely) and the gorillas (very close to happening). As for a date, one has not been set, and it DEFINITELY won't happen this October. We had an extensive rehab less than a year ago, while some attractions in the same department haven't had a decent RnR in almost ten years.
