Changes for 2011 - season rates (no fall value dates)

Okay.

I wonder why they have switched to a "Fall Season."

I'd bet that they've decided to extend Free Dining from late September through December, as they have the previous two years, and increase the rack rate that the Free Diners will have to pay. Free Dining must really have paid off.

I found it- it is listed as value season 2 and it has dates past thanksgiving up until xmas- hopes this helps. If you go on the room pricing for each resort on the left hand side you can find the rates for 2011 they are just at the bottom.

Which resort are you looking at? I'm looking at the rates for POP and don't see a Nov/Dec Value Season. The 2 Value Seasons listed for 2011 are Jan/Feb & mid-Aug through end of Sept.

I was looking at Beach Club and couldn't find Value Season listed for Nov/Dec either. The way they have set up their pricing for 2011 is very confusing. I'm looking to go from Thanksgiving Day 11/24 thru Dec3. In the past Thanksgiving Day and that Fri & Sat have all been one price (higher of course since it's the holiday weekend), then that Sunday thru Sat were lower. Looking at this: Thanksgiving Day and Friday are the higher price, then Sat (of T-day weekend) is "weekend"price followed by Sun thru Thurs "fall" price weekday" and finally Fri is "fall weekend" price It's just all over the place.

There are too many and they vary by resort.

I was also hoping to book a Bounceback trip when we are there this November, but am now thinking about booking the Dolphin instead. I'm not happy about the missing Fall Value season!

I think the dropping of Value Season for the fall dates respresents the large increase in crowds during this time of year. We have been going in the fall for well longer than I care to admit and it just get busier every year, so I suspect they will attempt to gain some $$$ by not offering value and banking the people that love fall will continue to come now that they have "branded" it as a less busy time of year.

Wow! I would hate to be a TA and have to figure out that mess! What are they thinking...making it that "all over the place"!!!
I think I will stay at Windsor Hills on our next vacation next year, will most likely be cheaper!!!!

Not really risky. They will offer discounts if needed. People are now so conditioned to discounts, if they raise the price and then offer a discount, people will be happy. I do agree that it's a way to get more money out of people going for "free dining". It would be interesting to see what people paid the first year of "free dining" vs this year. Plus they lost the appetizer and have to pay tips. But people are still going for it, there are several threads on this board about hotels being full.

Um, no, I'm pretty sure there's a Value season - at least at Animal Kingdom Lodge. There are two Value Seasons at Pop - Value and Value 2, with the latter being $3 higher (at least weekdays) and in late summer, vs. January/part of February. I think the different rate seasons are alphabetical in the dropdown menu.

It would be interesting to see what people paid the first year of "free dining" vs this year.

I can't be 100% certain, but either $72 or $76 plus tax each night at Pop Century in a standard room.

Right, there are value seasons. They just don't cover October - December anymore, like they used to. October - December (just before Christmas) are all a single season, Fall Season.

You may be looking under the 2010 rates, it only lists one value season with those months. For 2011 there is a drop down box on the right side that will list value season 2 at the very end.
