Changes at Ohana

Gotta know - what is the "Lapu Lapu?" ;)
Lapu Lapu - Myers rum and tropical juices served in a pineapple and topped with Bacardi 151 $10.99

Watch where you place the straw. My DNiece24 sipped the top and got all of the Barcardi 151. LOL quite a sight especially since she is not a big drinker.

We will be there 9/30 for dinner. But, I think I may cancel. We have never been there and heard so many good reviews. The old menu really appeals to us. I guess I need to wait and find out the full details on the changes.
But, Bread Pudding! :scared:
It does not look good.

We were at O'Hana's for dinner on August 24th. They had potatoes and the vegetable medley, and still had the pineapple and caramel at that point. Everything was AMAZING. I have a shellfish allergy and they worked with me to make sure that none of my food came into contact with the shimp or wontons.

I am not a big meat eater, but all of the meats were tender and delish...the dipping sauces were really good too. This was our favorite meal at WDW. :goodvibes

I would try it out and not cancel if you've never been there. Honestly, if you really want fresh pineapple after the meal, go to the MK afterward and get a pineapple spear from the Aloha Isles :flower:

Our reservation is for 5:50, it will be me, dbf, dd4, and my parents. I am located in Southeastern PA, I am right at the Delaware line, about 30 miles from Philadelphia.

my 15th trip coming up and i have never been to ohanas.
i have an adr for late sept but thinking of cancelling it now.

i was all set for the wings, wontons and pineapple/carmel dessert.

DH and I were there last week on Tuesday night, and the pineapple and caramel was still there. We LOVED the potatoes - as well as everything else! We tried to get a reservation for later in the week, but everything was booked until we left on Sunday night.

I wonder why they are changing everything??? Especially since it seems so popular as it is right now? Maybe if enough people voice their opinion, they will change back?!

I will be disappointed too if they change, this is our Fav restaurant in WDW.

BUT I don't think I will cancel until I hear that the menu has been actually changed.

Sounds like this is "here say" right now so who really knows. :earsboy:

I'm going on Sept 13th w/my DH (39) DD (12) and DS (7) and I am sad to hear the coconut races are gone, but my DS is very good at hula-hoop! The taters sound good, but I HATE bread pudding! Yuck! Sounds like I'll be too filled up to eat it anyway, what with the meat fest and all.

You must be near me then! I live in Bucks, is that close by you?

This is crazy...why fix something if it clearly is not broken.....
We are going back to WDW in Jan. and I was looking forward to O'Hana's (the way it was in May 2005) I Loved the green beans and the pineapple with caramel sauce.....
Why oh why would they change this!!!!!
:cold: :confused3 :guilty: :sad2: :sad1:

What is bread pudding? :confused3

It is basically just a baked custard with bread in it. I think it's yummy, and have made it several times my self.

Hmmm, tell me more about this bread pudding. Were there any Polynesian touches to it? Coconut perhaps?

I wonder if they use the leftover pineapple bread to make it. If they do, it makes good use of leftovers.

There is a bread pudding on the menu for Ohana at All Ears

Bread Pudding - warm pineapple-coconut bread with a vanilla-coconut rum sauce $4.99

I wonder if that's what it's using. I'm guessing that they would use the pineapple bread then. I think that this sounds yummy.

Aha! I think you may be onto something. Makes sense, I just hope they aren't using the 1/2 eaten loaves to make it!:scared:

I bet they got rid of the rice due to the fact that it wasn't being eaten. I wonder if the potatoes are the same ones served at some of the breakfasts I've had that were served family style?

What's up with no coconut races? What is the world coming to?!

COCONUT RACES or not?? Hoping that perhaps on the night that the OP was there they just missed the coconut races!! We need the coconut races!! And the pineapple with carmel dipping sauce!!

:wave2: This does make sense...Gross :crazy2: We were at an amish style restaurant that serves the chicken family style, my MIL asked what they did with the leftovers. They said they re-serve them and anything left at the end of the day went into tomorrows chicken salad. I almost lost it. I had seen children and even adults at other tables "picking" off the pieces on the serving plate. Needless to say, we never went back there.

Does anybody know for sure if this is how the bread pudding is made?

I think it would be against business standards to use food from another diners table to serve to others!@!@ Maybe in an Amish restaurant, bur not in the Disney big business regulated industry!!! :scared:
