Changes at Earl of Sandwich

We had never gone before, but when my mom went with my aunts they all went and were raving about it. Especially the size of the sandwiches and how they were full even after splitting one. When we went a few weeks ago my mom and I decided to each get our own sandwich so we could save half for the ride home... I ate my whole sandwich and was still hungry!!! My mom and aunts seemed pretty disappointed by the sandwiches and said they were definitely smaller. I was also not impressed with the flavor - nothing special. I wanted to take my DH there on our honeymoon the morning we leave but since this is apparently a permanent change we might have to skip it. He's a big eater and I don't want to leave for the airport hungry!

Argh. This stinks. We were always pleasantly full after eating a sandwich there. I definitely didn't find them enormous or anything. I can live with the price increase as it has to happen sometime, but the smaller sizing doesn't sound so great. And my 10 yr old only ate the canonball. It was his absolute favorite. He'd probably try something else, but between the higher prices, always long lines, and shrinking sandwiches I don't know that we'd bother to go out of our way to go there next time.

I agree 100% :thumbsup2

I have searched the web for before and after pictures but haven't found any yet. But if/when I do, I will post.
If anyone else finds any or has some, please post them for us.
I am so disappointed:guilty:

What a bummer. I don't mind the price increase, but coupled with the shrinking sandwich, that is a disappointment. Only sandwich that disappeared that we ate regularly was the Jerk Chicken. Holiday and Original are my two faves though. Will wait and see on this. Still will visit, but probably less often if they shrink enough. Too bad.

we finally got an earl out here at dl. we also noticed that the portions are smaller we thought it was just out here. I would think that with the amount of business that WDW generates they would rethink higher prices smaller portions
if it is meatballs you want head over to pucks express they are the best I have ever had eating out anywhere hands down. they are on the dining plan also and you leave that place stuffed
they have great sammies too

Does anyone else think the Dining Plan had something to do with this??
I certainly wouldn't bet against it! Almost every other eating choice at Disney has gone downhill since it started so why not this too.

Has anyone here ever tried the salads?

It's all I ever eat there and I love them!

I have a receipt from a tuna salad from April 2009. It cost $5.95 plus tax. Given that it was 5 years ago, I can live with the 50c price increase. Of course that wonderful Mediterranean Tuna Salad is no longer on the menu. I am not sure if they would make one seeing as they have the tuna for the sandwich, but if not, the Greek looks like it could win second prize. Really good portion size and fresh and delicious.
