I decided to change my reservation to AKL from POFQ (I've changed from WL to POFQ to now AKL and DH says NO more changing). I'm really really excited. I think we made the right decision. I don't know much about AKL but it looks amazing. Anyone want to share their experiences ? :thumbsup2

I dont have any advice on AKL, but i have changed my reservation multiple times!! We are at our 45 days, and are staying put. My husband was so tired of hearing about it!

We went from Poly to AKL to WL back to the Poly!

Good morning...:goodvibes
I can't offer any experiences, but I had to chuckle at your post. I switched as well, quite a few times actually. But I have made our final switch and we are staying at AKL. This will be our first time there and I am sooooo excited about it!
I'm sure you will get lots of tips/experiences! :thumbsup2
Have a great day!

I have been debating changing for a week now, I made the reservation a week ago:) We are booked at POR from 11/30 - 12/7 but was thinking of AKL, one day it's change the next it's stay:confused3

I love AKL so much, I bought into it with DVC. I never would have considered DVC otherwise, but I really love the hotel... everything about it is unique, from the animals off your balcony to the interior themes. I hope you enjoy your stay there.

I just returned from an 8 night stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Lodge itself is just absolutely beautiful.

As two adults that went, we enjoyed the Savannah View but, it really isn't worth the cost in my opinion. We really didn't spend much time there & in the mornings when we could, the animals were never out. They were in for their check-ups. There are plenty of place to sit & view the animals.

The two Table Service places, Boma & Jiko, are wonderful. We enjoyed the Counter Service place, Mara, as well but the choices were limited.

My only disappointed was that for a Deluxe Hotel, it was very noisy in our room. You could hear everyone in the hall, occasionally the guests next door & toilets flushing from every direction. It was so noisy, that we went to WalMart to get a box fan to drown out the noise so we could get to sleep. We stayed at the Beach Club last year & this was never a problem there.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask & I will try to answer them.

I laughed at your post because I did the same thing. We were booked 7 days at doubletree DTD. Then got 40% code. At first I ignored it, but learned here that I may never get another and decide to book BC for the last three days (when there are 5 of us). Then I had the brillant idea to also add WL the first 4 days since my SIL is with us those days, and we could get two rooms and could not stay here w/ 5 otherwise.

Now I keep seconding guessing WL thinking of AKL. Why do we do this to ourselves? I think we overthink our decisions, and we read wonderful posts here of AKL. But, I am staying put, tooo embarrassed to ask my SIL to change again:laughing: , though she is sooo nice and would probably say, fine whatever!!!

At least we are having breakfast at Boma one day and I am sure the WL is wonderful, too!!

Have a wonderful stay!!

The right decision, IMO!
The place is AWESOME, and super relaxing.
The JIKO restaurant is wonderful, and our kids enjoyed the kids club,
SIMBA's Cubhouse.
Enjoy your stay!:thumbsup2

I see you have changed again? This time to Poly. ;)

I did the same thing a couple of years ago for our first family trip to WDW - I kept changing my mind re: where we were going to stay. We started out at POR, then moved to CSR, then moved to split stay at off-site and AKL, then changed to split stay at POP and AKL, then finally just staying at AKL. I've still got all the confirmation letters from Disney as evidence to my indecision.

We had a great stay at AKL, and I would offer some comments, but I see that you are now at Poly ... :)

Have a great time, no matter where you stay!

Linda

Don't do it!

Once you do, it will be like an addiction. Of all the WDW resorts we have stayed in (14), this is without doubt, the most relaxing.

Location, Location, Location.

The only way to get to the AKL is by bus or your own transportation. You're away from the hustle & bustle of WDW.

We always end our trips to WDW by staying at the AKL.

Enjoy your stay!
