I just changed our resort for arrival on Thursday. The CM on the phone told me that I should not put the luggage tags on and just go directly to the ME desk when I arrive at MCO and "describe my luggage" and they will find it and bring it to my new resort. I do not understand how that would work. Anyone have a current idea of how I should handle this. I know a few years back they just had me write the name of my new resort on the luggage tags. Was she giving me wrong info? Would I just be able to get pick up my luggage and take it to the ME?

Last year we switched resorts and they told us just to write the new resort on our tags -- that the barcode would automatically scan with our new info. The bags got to our room fine.

Also last year, we booked a last minute trip and didn't get our tags. We took our claim numbers down to the ME desk and they took care of our luggage, no problem.

I'd probably write in the new name, but also take the claim numbers down to the desk with you just in case. I would NOT "just describe your luggage"... There's way too much similar-looking luggage!

Thanks so much!! I thought it was the strangest thing that I have heard yet.

It actually isn't that strange. The standard procedure for people who don't receive their tags (or change their reservation number after their tags are sent out) is to give their luggage claim tickets and a description of the luggage to the ME agent at the desk. They will then send someone to luggage claim to collect the bags. It happens all the time and works well.

If your reservation number hasn't changed, you can just carefully mark out the resort and write the new one in. But, if your reservation number has changed, you will need to do what the CM told you to do.
