Changed reservation, charged new deposit. Normal?

We booked yesterday in the afternoon then changed our reservation in the evening to add a day. We got charged twice for the deposit. Is this normal? Will we get a refund? It’s been six year since our last trip and we went through a travel agent, book ourselves feels like foreign territory. Thought I would ask here before waiting on hold with Disney to raise a ruckus. Thanks!

I blame our parents! We were happy with five nights but apparently that wasn’t enough magic with their granddaughter, lol.

I changed my reservation over the weekend. I was charged the new deposit amount and was credited for the old amount.

Yes, it is normal. By adding a day you actually made a new reservation which requires a new deposit. Once you cancel the original reservation the deposit will be returned to the card you used for the first reservation.
