We are a family of 5 and my one daughter had a friend coming this year so we booked a family suuite at ASMu. The friend had some grade issues and her parents will not let her go (she and my daughter have been inseperable for the last 7 years and we really would have liked to have had her with us) so when we found out last night that she couldn't I checked Poly prices for the time of our trip - July 20-29th.
The price of the Garden view room (with AP Discount) was $600 less than the suite! We still wish she could have came - she has never been to Disney, but will get to go on a band trip next year - we are very excited to be going back to the Poly.
I guess I just need to know if I should feel guilty about changing - I know it is helping my daughter get over not having a friend along

Personally, I wouldn't feel guilty about changing resorts. Your DD's friend not coming on the trip has nothing to do with you. If you would have stayed at the Poly anyway without her than all you are doing is going back to your original plan.

Don't feel guilty at all! Yes, feel badly about your daughter's friend not being able to come but recognize it was beyond your control. Circumstances changed and so you changed your plans - to a nicer resort for less money. You were genuinely excited about the other girl's going even if it meant staying at a resort that wouldn't have been your first choice. Now just feel free to be happy about staying where you'd really rather stay, especially since you will also be saving money doing so.

Enjoy your trip! :)

Don't feel quilty at all! Saving money and staying at the Poly, now that is something to be excited about! :cool1: Have a great trip!

That's amazing that the Family Suite (basically two preferred Value rooms) is that much more than one room at the Poly. :confused3 Is this because you can't find a discount on the Family Suite and you can at the Poly? This is just another reason that I'm glad that we finally bought into DVC.

Based on your information, I'd take the savings as well. We actually enjoy two rooms at a Value for the 5 of us (two tv's, two bathrooms, more space). However, the location of the Poly can't be beat for a week at Disney.

We did a split stay once (2 rooms at a Value for several nights) and then the remaining nights at the Poly. We found our Poly standard view room to be significantly more expensive.
