Change tables in park washrooms

I'm just wondering if people know of specific restrooms in the various parks that have counters for changing (or even just counters that aren't meant for changing) rather than the fold down change tables? My ds has a lot of trouble with diaper rashes especially when it's hot and humid so we're going to have to try and change him every 2-3 hrs while in the parks. I know the best places for it is the first aid room but we're not going to want to walk back there every few hours. On our first trip to DW 5 years ago I seem to remember that there were a few restrooms in MK where the counter was long enough to change him on. I can't remember exactly where; I think one was near Fantasy Land; we spent a lot of time there that trip. Does anyone know of similar type washrooms in the other parks as well? He's now 5 foot 5 but has bad hip and knee contractures so doesn't need that much room for changing. We just need to be able to get his upper body and his bent legs onto the table or counter. He just can't go on the fold out change tables. We're not going until Sept. so I'm hoping that people that go sooner than that can do some scouting for us. Thanks,

Just what I remember for now until someone else has more information -
most of the larger restrooms have a shelf rather than a pull down table.
Some of the Companion Restrooms have a shelf also - I have notes about those, but haven't had time to do anything with my notes. i will try to get that info out in the next few weeks.
Just to aware though, the shelves are counter height (about 34.5 inches high) and they are not very long; most are about 36 inches long.

For some reason I think most of the larger restrooms have the counters - I remember seeing them in places such as the potties outside the AK gates, I think there is one in the potty by Space Mt. in MK, I really can't remember exactly, but the larger the restroom, the better chance you have at getting a counter!

Thanks. I checked that site out and it was great. For most of the bathrooms there wasn't a specific pic of the change area but I saw at least 1 (3 in MK) in each park that look doable. I think I'm going to include a list of possible bathrooms we can go to in the book I'm doing for ds-that list will help us more than him but it's still revelant. Once I compile the list I"ll post it here or on the other board so others can see if it works for them too. I can't be the only one who has a large child to change in the parks.

MOst of hte bathrooms have counters if I remember correctly. If you are able use the Baby Care stations. They let me use the tables and the floor of the quiet room (layed out a blanket to change DS on ). Good luck We go in July and I can check for you then

As far as I remember, all the Ladies Rooms have some facilities for diaper changing.
Most of the larger restrooms would have a changing 'shelf' rather than one of those pull down tables/baby changing stations. Some of the smaller ones either have a very small shelf or a pull down station,
On one trip I measured some of the changing 'shelves' and found the usual was between 30 and 36 inches long. The largest I measured were 40-42 inches long. I had also taken notes about Companion Restrooms with measurements, but can't find my notes.
Looking at the WDW bathrooms website, these are bigger Restrooms that might be likely to have a changing 'shelf' and what I know about the Companion Restrooms (CR). All of the CRs are listed with the regular restroom they are near.

AK - 6 CR in the park

• Africa - in Harambe village to the left as you enter Africa, across from Tusker House (listed on website as just outside the Safari). Companion Restroom #1 (CR) outside this ladies room - pull down changing table in CR
• Dinoland - Chester and Hester. CR #2; can't remember if it has a changing shelf or not
• Discovery Island - Pizzafari - I would guess the changing shelf on the picture to be only about 30 inches long
• Asia - near entrance to Kali River Rapids (across) and Maharajah Jungle Trek on the left before the entrance. CR #3 - can't remember if shelf
• Asia - near Expedition Everest - changing table on picture looks at least 36 inches. CR #4
• Discovery Island opposite Flame Tree Barbecue, just before DinoLand USA entrance on the right. I think this restroom has one of the larger changing 'shelves'. CR #5 - not sure what it has
• Dinoland - outside and inside Restaurantosaurus. Changing shelf in picture looks to be about 36-40 inches long
• Camp Mickey-Minnie - changing table looks to be about 30-36 inches long
• Conservation Station at Rafiki's Planet Watch - there is no picture on the bathroom website. CR #6

• MK - 6 CR in the park
• next to City Hall on Main Street
• To the right of Space Mountain (facing SM). CR #1 - does NOT have any changing table
• Plaza Pavilion
• Pirates of the Caribbean. CR #2 - small with no changing table
• Walk way between HM and Fantasyland
• Next to Pinocchio Village Haus (behind it). Picture shows VERY long changing table.CR #3 - small and I don't remember a changing table.
• Near Splash Mountain. CR #4
• In passageway between Frontierland and Adventureland -picture shows large changing shelf
• Mickey's Toontown Fair. CR #5 don't think there is a changing table
• Lower level of Cinderella's Royal Table in the Castle, not a regular restroom, only a CR #6 - I highly recommend NOT going in this one at all. There are long lines of people wanting to change their children into outfits for the Cinderella's character meal.

Also remember that the First Aid Stations have large changing areas. I have used the ones in MK, AK and Epcot to change my now 10 yr old, and they have worked quite well. Changing a 72 lb boy on one of those pull-out changing stations makes me nervous, so we also look for the big counter-style areas. Our beloved Moderatrix will finish her list soon, so you should be all set. Just remember that the first aid areas also work well, and are designed for just such activities for which we need them.

Another vote for the first aid stations. Plenty of room and they could not be nicer.

gosh, I don't want to sound snarky, but if you have trouble with rashes, wouldn't you be changing that often even if you're not in the florida heat and humidity?

Have you considered cloth? It's my understanding that you should be changing that often anyway - just because the diapers CAN hold more doesn't necessarily mean they should....

We do change that often at home but he often gets left longer when out. We have to be extra careful in the heat. Cloth wouldn't work for him as he needs something that wicks away the moisture. He couldn't handle regular lines he had to have pampers or now a men's guard works.

We do plan on using the first aid stations as our prime change area but am likely not going to want to walk back to them every 2-3 hrs. Our poor feet will revolt with too much extra walking-both myself and the person going with us have had foot problems. I know we'll be pushing our feet to the limit every day.

OK, so I have gone thru my memory for the best changing stations, ones with big, long stainless steel counters. Here are two really good ones:

• Magic Kingdom: the one in Fantasyland next to Pinocchio Village Haus, near Ariel's Grotto
• Hollywood Studios (fka MGM): Just before Star Tours and just after Sounds Dangerous

I'm sure I'll remember more, but these are two stand-outs. To my recollection, most of the bathrooms at MK have the counters. I recall the one in Tomorrowland does, and the one near the Teacups does too, I think. Epcot is OK, but I generally rely on the First Aid Station there, having been burned often enough. At AK, I can't remember any, since we seem to be near the First Aid Station near Africa every time he has needed a change.

Oh yes, and I'm talking about the Men's Rooms, while SueM in MN has reviewed Ladies Rooms, to which I do not have access. Changing my 10 yr old DS really does require a Men's Room so as not to offend his sensibilities.
