Change OKW package and go with DVC Rental?

i currently have a 7nt package with Disney, OKW 1 BR for 5, May 12 for 7 nts with 8 day hopper tickets. Final payment due Thursday. I see today DVC Rental Store has the same dates available BCV 2 bedroom for close to the same price. Im concerned about cancelling OKW package and loosing all my FP’s. An email tells me I shouldnt as long as I link my BCV with MDE prior to cancelling the OKW. Anyone have experience with this? Ive never rented and im a little scared.

Have you thoroughly researched rentals and their pros and cons? Does the agency have insurance? What are the terms and conditions? What are your protections? Do you know what you’re getting with the direct booking vs the Dvc rental? We’re you sure to add the right ticket costs to the rental?

If you’ve done the research and KNOW what you’re getting and trust the agency....consider moving forward.

Have you contacted the agency and and do they actually have something available? (Just making sure. Getting a cost estimate off the one page is just that, a guess.) The agency you mentioned does offer insurance but it covers less and less the closer to the check in date. You may be better off getting insurance through a travel insurance company as it will cover a lot more than just the rental costs. This agency also does not require total payment up front. About half or a bit more after booking and the rest a few months later. Good luck.

As @bumbershoot stated, a DVC rental is a lot different than reserving from Disney. It is a legally binding contract that you will sign. Without insurance, and an insured reason, you will not be able to cancel or change dates for a refund. You will not get daily Mousekeeping, just a Trash and Tidy on day 4. You will not have fresh towels daily, replenished toiletries or coffee, etc. etc. etc.
Research what you are getting carefully before you move forward.
You need to be considering more than just your FP's

Are you sure that they actually have those dates available? They often show the estimated prices for you date but you usually won't know if the dates are available until you pay an upfront deposit.

When you say "close to the same price" are you including the cost of 8-day hoppers for the family in that number? I see the confirmed reservation on the agent's website, so obviously they have an owner who holds a reservation that they wish to rent out. Personally, if I could get 2 bedroom instead of 1 for about the same price, I would go for it. BCV has a great pool and is within walking distance of 2 parks. Lots of dining options close by, as opposed to OKW which is spread out with some units being very far from the Hospitality House and no other dining options nearby.

OK, I see what you're looking at. Personally, I would go for it. BCV is a great place to stay and if you can get it at a similar rate (and you're sure you wont cancel), go for it.

With the package from Disney, you get daily full cleaning, extra bath towels if you need them, extra amenities if you need them. With the DVC rental, you get no service other than trash removal (code for daily inspection) and trash removed, towels and amenities replaced on day four (day one is check in day). No bed making for seven days at all. No clean sheets, only eight bath towels (for a two bedroom). The DVC rental will not include park admission or dining until you add them yourself.
