Change of plans- OLD KEY WEST-?????

So i've changed our resorts a few times and now changed our dates- long story, but now I have us booked @ OKW . We've never stayed here before so I was wondering what its like, is it nice? Hows the food options? We were thinking of switching to AKL, but I think I like the boat ride to downtown disney @ okw help me make up my mind!!!!!

what size unit are you staying in?

studio, 1 or 2 bedroom?

I Love OKW too, but I have the same question as Spicey. The size unit would be a big difference. I personally don't think OKW is best experienced in a studio size, because it's a large hotel room with 2 queen sized beds. If you aren't staying in a 1 bedroom or larger there isn't a lot of point to stay in a DVC resort over any other deluxe on property.

BTW, OKW has Olivia's which is a great restaurant in it's own right, and we will often eat there each trip.

In Feb 05 we took a last minute trip and the only availability was OKW. It had never appealed to me but as Id rather be at Disney than anywhere else we took it. We absolutely loved the place. It is now not only our favourite DVC resort its our favourite WDW resort period. Its calm, relaxing, laid back and much more ....you can almost feel the disney magic around you.

We love OKW too and it always surprises me on these boards when I read people saying it doesn't have Disney "magic" ! It is SO relaxing, calm, tropical, casual and pretty. I love the "peace" of it after being at the parks. In Sept. we felt like we hardly saw anyone else at the resort, and it doesn't feel crowded or busy at all.

We had a similar experience and really enjoyed OKW. I guess I probably had low expectations. It really grew on us. It is really relaxed and laid back. I love how you can park your car right in front of your building (if you have a car).

I think the views are really great. I think you can request water, woods or golf course. It's very nice and lush!

The boats to DTD only run something like 2x an hour, so be sure to call the front desk to know what time to show up to catch the boat.

We really like Olivia's for dining as well. The atmosphere on the patio is really nice...inside is just so-so.

We like it at OKW, you feel relaxed there. I agree Olivia's has good food.
