We are planning on visiting MK on the 5th - it originally opened at 9am, so we'd booked CP Breakfast at 8:05am... now the hours have changed and the park is now opening at 8am (why?!?!) So, we now miss the benefits of getting into the park early and we are thinking of cancelling the breakfast unless you guys can say that the park will still be dead quiet just before 9?!!

Four days of work left... a packing weekend and off on the 28th!!

Hi... It is just one of those things that DW do now and again, Ill be honest you are going to be in MK on a very busy day and time of the year by 9am the park will not be quiet... I guess it all depends how bad you want your breakfast at CP ?? ( which is a great experience we have done many times )

This happened to us last year with Tusker House at AK. I ended up moving my slot to 9.00 so we did the safari first and then used our FP+ after breakfast. It worked at AK as not too busy, however we tried EMH at MK last year for the first time and it was packed - I vowed not to do it again. I would advise avoiding fantasyland and sticking to Adventureland after breakfast, it tends not to get as busy early in the day and then your FP+'s. I would then try to leave at lunchtime and avoid the busy afternoon. I sympathise with your frustration, planning a trip can be tricky, but at least you will have a plan and no what to expect.

Just looked and realised it's early opening rather than EMH's (never known that before!) It might not be as bad!!

I hope so for you, but they normally do that when they forecast a busier day in that park due to resort bookings and tickets sales being linked via MDE

I am so fustrated by this change - our MK breakfast mornings now all have 8am openings and the 5th is our wedding anniversary and I didn't really want 7am start!

Email to Disney I feel...they want us to book dining 6 months out and FP at 60 days then change the park hours at 2 weeks out is just not fair!!!

I'm with you Elise. The point of the breakfast was to get a little alone time on Main Street USA and hit Fantasyland as soon as it opened. It wasn't really about Breakfast, but I do love a good breakfast!!! I looked at if we could get a Chef Mickey's breakfast at 7am, but alas no (besides we have a Chef Mickey's reservation for dinner that night as its DS birthday...) I know... Two character dinings on one day (but at least it gets them over; I can take or leave them, but rest of family loves them!!!)

It's a pity that they can't open CP at 7am...

I know no other way about the parks, crowd wise, as we've never gone any other time (teachers) so we like to plan to get the best tour of the park and this was one of those disboards tips which has back fired!!

I really don't know what to do.... Thinking about keeping the ressie and taking the parks as they come from 9am...we have FP+ for late morning so we won't miss out in the long run.

We've finalised our plans...I might post a pre trip report; do people read those?

Oh - Happy Aniversary Elise!

let's try to look on the bright side. It's only a few weeks away. Many guests won't even know about the change to an earlier opening, and those who do might not want to get up at 6am to go to MK.

Also, it will allow you to be there for the MK opening ceremony which you would have missed otherwise.

well ... sorry, I'm just trying to make it look better. But with sensible FP+ selections you'll be able to make the best of it.
And anyway, aren't guests let in as far as the hub 15 minutes before official opening time ? (so essentially before you would have been out of CP anyway)
I don't think it will make much of a difference crowd wise.

I emailed Disney to express my disappointment and got the usual expected fluffy respond back but I would suggest you email them too as if more people do they may rethink in future.

You'd be surprised I am expecting a lot of people once we get out of breakfast...

It is very frustrating when DW does this after we all make plans for our days around ADR's & FP+ !!

I'd cancel your breakfast. When they open the parks at 8am not EMH it's a brilliant first hour and a half touring. So relaxed. Even better when they open it at 7am over Christmas. You can eat later/somewhere else. I would not personally miss that first hour for food of any description.

@mickeyforpresident there is a 10.20am reservation free at Crystal Palace (for 4) on 5th August I just checked. Why don't you try and re book that. If you arrive at 8am as planned you will have done a tonne of the big rides before breakfast. Best of both worlds :) I hope this helps you.

I've changed our 8.15 breakfast for a 9.45 with the plan to arrive at the same time do some rides then have breakfast. After breakfast we have our FPs so we should be good to go with minimal queueing :thumbsup2
