change of home resort

Our home resort is SSR but we think that more often than not we would want to stay at BCV. Is it possible to change your home resort?

Your home resort is any resort you own points at and the home resort advantage is only for the points owned at that resort. You will need to buy BCV points if you want home resort advantage there.

As JimC said, the short answr is NO, you cannot simply change your Home Resort. You would have to buy points at BCV and sel lyour SSR. Each deed is tied to a physical building at a specific resort, by FL law, this physical ownership is what determines not only your home resort booking window, but your annual taxes and fees are based upon that ownership. And different resorts have different operating expenses...thus by law, you could not say "I want my home resort to be BCV" even if you were willing to pay the annual dues for that resort. It has to be re-deeded. And DVC does not offer that.

As stated above you can not simply change your home resort as only a certain number of points are tied to each resort. However, nothing prevents you from purchasing additional points at another resort so that you own 2 at 2 or more resorts, or you could buy at a second resort and sell your original resort contract.

I originally owned at OKW, then added at BCV, then finally bought a 150 point SSR contract and sold the other points. So I effectively changed my home resort.

To verify what has already been said, I asked our guide about this, since we wanted to change home resorts, and he agreed-"no, you can't". But since DH really wished to own at a different resort, we bought points at the resort we chose, then sold at our previous resort. Maybe not the soundest financial move, I don't know, but with our hearts at one resort, it's probably best we made sure our points are there now.
