Change jar money??

We save all our change for the Disney trips, which is usually spending money that goes anywhere. Right now we have about $450.00, previous years we had $700.00 & $765.00

the kids just cashed in. 3 months 5 kids they saved 195.00 in change :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: they are so excited to have some of their own money. we are starting a new jar today for next year :jumping1:

We use our change for our general vacation $... It adds up pretty quickly. For food, tickets, souvenirs, travel, whatever, you can't go wrong! :mickeybar :mickeybar

Once I have all the all our spending money saved. I am going to restart it for our 2006 or 2007 trip. I have not decided where we are going it is either land or land/sea.

We rolled the change in our jar for our trip last April. It was enough to pay for two passes in to parks!!

well i do mystery shopping on a part time basis usually between 2-8 hundred per month depending how may jobs you do, i have that direct deposited into a savings account -ing thanks to these boards, i use that or tickets, air, everything,
i save my change in an empty mop bucket and i typically use that for additional spending money while in florida

We'll be using our this year for character meals and other luxuries this trip.

My DS11 :earsboy:& I have a 5 gal. water bottle.
Every friday all change be it in pockets, purse, all go in.
Every Payday a $20. goes in. :bounce:
This all goes for food :mickeybar :drinking1 on vacation.
How much depends on fast food or character meals ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo .

My change jar is actually a gallon sized milk jug that I decorated with Disney stickers, so just looking at that inspires me! ;) I created a goal of saving all my change for Cirque du Soleil and the Segway tour.

My change jar is my Lenox Poppies on the Blue Jar. I think it is the flour jar. We put all of our change in here. We put dollars in the jar too. We spend this on our WDW trips were needed. Right now my jar is half way full :goodvibes

We save it and turn it in before a trip, use it for tipping and such along the way. Just turned it in yesterday...$213 added to tipping money for our upcoming cruise.

We had originally planned that it would be the girls spending money when we began a change jar last year, but when we cashed it in after 5 months and realized that the total was over $300.00 we set a purchase limit for each girls and put the rest in for food/gas. Each girl was allowed 1 stuffed toy, 1 regular toy, 1 T-shirt, and a new blanket from the Disney Home Store (which was still open). Our DD's were just 5years and 1 year so this worked out as there was no "she got more toys than I did :sad2: " I think we'll continue this untill they are both old enough just to have a set limit to do what they want with.

I love our change jar!!

DH and I had a change jar for our honeymoon. Over a 4 to 5 month period we saved any change that we had at the end of the day and from recycling bottles and cans. We ended up with over $100 which we spent on a wine package on the cruise. Our next trip isn't until Sept. 06 but we have already started our jar. I deposit the money in the bank every couple of months and put it in our ING account. With the rate so high with ING my change is making me more money! I love that jar!

I only started saving my change in the change jar (a quart sized blue Mason jar) about 2 months ago. So far, we have about $75. How my boys (ages 10 and 11) get spending money for the trip is by doing their homework. I have such a hard time getting them to bring their homework packets home on Fridays. So, what I have been doing is, they each get $3 for every Friday that they bring their homework home. Then they each get $2 if they do their homework with no complaining. My 10 yr old has made about $30 and my 11 yr old has made about $15.

Great, Great ideas!

I'm going to roll some change now!

I think I'll use it for spending money and/or extras like Tea at the GF.

Let's keep the ideas coming...it's great inspiration!

:cloud9:

Right now the change jar is just designated "disney". I have envelopes set up for different needs on the trip "gas" "character meal" "hotel" etc. When I cash it in, it goes into the envelopes, which get sealed so I'm not so tempted.

We have always used a change jar for our trips. One year our change jar paid for the WHOLE trip. Last time we collected for 9 months and it was our spending money. This time we aren't counting it until the last minute, that way it will be a surprise!! I know it will be our gas (we are driving) and food money at least and probably more! Its amazing how quickly it adds up. Since we are paying for the hotel ahead of time and our tickets, it is much easier on the pocketbook!!! :cool1:

I know someone posted about coinstar and I know that they take a percentage, we are going to buy a coin sorter from Walmart for $20 that will do the work for us and puts it right in the coin roller if you want!!

We use our spare change just for food @ Disney. :wave2: My DH doesn't ask for anything when it comes to me planning our Disney vacations. He just does what I want. The only thing he really likes is a good meal. How can I begrudge him some good grube when he's so easy to please.

So . . . any spare change goes to feed DH and DS.

We use our change jar money for airline tickets. DH empties his pockets every night and I love to feed the disney bank with the coins. Once we have enough saved up for airline tickets, we start planning. It really is painless. Just rolled $170 in coin this past weekend. Now I'll deposit that into my checking account and then transfer it to my ING account (aka Disney Fund), which, by the way is now paying 2.8% interest as of this morning.

An even easier way than saving coins is to just sign up for an ING account and get the $25 sign on bonus. I did this for my family of 5 and got $165 in sign on bonuses and referrals. Who wouldn't want "free" money?
