Change is...

There is a world of difference between the Macs donating .
Besides it's Mac and Mae.....

They did NOT contribute to anyone - they are prohibited by law from donating directly - employess dontated $165,000 to Obama and Board members donated $116,000 to McCain - if you think that's a large amount of money, well, it's not, not by a long shot - Obama collected nearly $100,000,000 in June alone and almost $390,000,000 in total to date!

Excuse the misspelling. I don't care how much money it is in the scheme of things. Do you care if Enron employees only donated a little bit of money to George Bush?

Why do you think so many bills are becoming due on the weekends? Sundays especially? The banks aren't open on Sundays. They want your money sooner so they can earn more interest on it for themselves. And if your payment gets there on Monday, they can charge you $30+ in late fees and have a reason to jack up your rates. They are ripping us all off.

I don't understand this all my bills are due by a certain date which is the same pretty much every month. My Disney card is due on the 1st of the month while some months this can fall on a Sunday its not chase trying to rip me off its just part of the billing cycle.

the oil companies are making about 8% profit, which is very slim margins by any other industries standards. The reason it still goes into the billions is they are selling billions....

This is posted everytime this issue comes up but everyone just ignores it. It is easier to use scare tactics and talk about the big bad oil companies who are ripping everyone off than actually look at their profit margin and the years of big losses.:confused3

The theory of free markets is great if we actually had a free market. In truth, the oil companies have a monopoly. Do you think anyone could start a new company and give them the competition so vital to a free market economy? Not a chance.

That makes no sense. There is intense competition amongst oil companies.

I think what she is alleging is that CC card companies manipulate their billing cycles so that bills come due on a weekend, thus tricking customers into thinking they have more time to pay than they really due. So if you just send in a payment 5 days ahead, and you aren’t responsible enough to see that its due on a Sunday and that you need to send it in 7 days in advance, then you just got stuck.

Every credit card I have is due x days after the closing date. And the closing date is every 30 days, so personally I'm not seeing the president of Discover in the grassy knoll.

Baloney, if this were true then we would find a wider range of prices as companies vied for business. Instead, every gas station is within pennies of the next, that is not competition. Secondly, as I said, part of a free market is new companies coming along to challenge the old, creating market pressure and competition. That can not happen with the oil industry.

Tell me then, what is keeping gas prices from being $10 a gallon?

Certianly not the lack of demand.
