I apologize in advance because I am sure that this has been answered repeatedly, but I have noticed that the deluxe hotels have changed the start of their value season to July 5th instead of the 4th. I know that I will have to check out of my room on the 5th to get the value season rate for the rest of my vacation, but will I literally have to vacate my room or is it more of a paperwork checkin? Simply put, will I have to pack or not? ;)

Yes, you'd split it into two reservations. At check in, let them know what's up and they should be able to check you out-and-in with the exact same room without having to pack. They will definitely have to close out one folio and open the other one, plan some time for the paperwork at the checkout counter in the lobby. If this is a room only ressie, they will also *likely* make you pay two deposits (one for each separate reservation).

Kind of a hassle, but only you can decide whether the money you save is worth the all trouble.

I have done this, book "continuing reservations" because the season changed. I made a request when I booked to be kept in the same room, and also at check-in I asked to be kept in the same room, and they did. Not only that, they upgraded us to a pool view right from the start! I theorized that they didn't have a standard room for the second part of our ressie, so they just put us right into a pool view that we could keep for both ressies!

I was only charged for the one room deposit. But I have heard that some have had to put down 2 deposits for the two ressies. I guess it depends on the CM you get. If you only want to put down one deposit, try asking when you first make the ressie(s).

It may seem like a hassle, but for us it wasn'tand it did save us money.:D

My 2¢:

You may not have to pack & move, but you should be prepared to!

They will not *guarantee* you in advance that you will not have to move rooms. They will tell you that they will try to keep you in the same room...for your convenience as well as the resorts...but they can't *guarantee* it.

You can request they note it in *both* ressies that you have a continuing stay & prefer not to change rooms, because the 2 ressies will download to the resort/room assignor on different days.

I would not count on a complimentary upgrade. I know many people who have had *split stays* like this & have never been upgraded. Also, they've had to pay 2 deposits, 1 for each ressie. Also, remember that *each* ressie is subject to it's own cancellation/change policies.

IMHO, you'll save yourself disappointment if you're OK with the worst case scenario & you'll be delighted if the best works out.

Hope this helps! :)

this will affect us next year on our honeymoon. we will be arriving at WDW on the July 3rd. If there are codes through our checkin date, would you book the entire stay. Then, if different codes come out for the value season dates, drop those days off the first reservation and book for the remainder of the stay. We are AP holders, so I am talking about AP rates if they are available next year.

puffkin, I am also hoping to check in on July 3rd so the change in seasons will really effect my rate since most of my vacation will be after the change to value season. I had forgotten about the chace that an AP rate might be in effect for my entire visit. I am afraid that would be too good to be true!
