Hi Everyone,

Just picked up on this thread over on the resort boards.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=580503

I wonder if the change in Value Season dates mentioned in this thread will spill over to DVC? Specifically...I guess most of November up until Thanksgiving in 2005 will now be Regular Season. Value Season starts after Thanksgiving.

Any thoughts??

Disney can do whatever they want to when they rent the non-DVC resorts. But for DVC, they can only do what our contracts allow. And if DVC changed the classification of November (and thereby raised the points), they'd also need to reclassify some other month to reduce the points proportionately. I'm very confident that won't be happening.

I had though DVC was going to change it in 2005 - I was so happy they did not.....

I don't think we will know until 2006 is released - but I don't think so (really hope) - do you know how many people they will made mad......

I just checked the points charts and 2005 really isn't much different from 2004, so nothing will take place until '06, unless DVC comes out with some revised points charts.

I don't think DVC will be doing any reallocation of points anytime soon. JMHO. YMMV.

The only impact I see is that it might make renting points more attractive to non-DVC members who normally visit in November. Perhaps the "increased demand" will bring about an increase in the "average" rental price of $10/point. l teeth:

Jimbo is right. In our contracts it specifies the total number of points available at each resort each year. If they raise the point price somewhere, they've got to lower it somewhere else in the year. Zero-sum game.

With the cash seasons, they can do whetever they like, tho it'll make weekend cash options a little more pricy :( .

No real thoughts here other than Mary's site and Deb's site do *not* match up at all with the dates. Disney's site doesn't go out to 2005 yet so until they do, it's kind of pointless for me to even think how, if at all, that would affect DVC.

That's a good point. Renting will be an especially good bargain next November.

Maybe they have seen an increase in travelers in November like

~Jersey Week - Seems like everyone agrees that most of the state migrates to WDW that week.

~ Veterans Day? Does that have an impact? Don't know for sure.

~ Super Soap Weekend - seems to straddle one of the Jersey Week weekends and from what I understand brings in a lot of people.

~ Food & Wine Fest

~ Thanksgiving

Supply and Demand probably governs this for them. Disney is seeing more people at it's resorts in November so why not charge a little more? (Their thinking, not necessarily mine)

It's funny that it will be cheaper to stay at a deluxe in July or August than October or November but the hours are much longer in July. I wouldn't be happy paying regular season room rates in November when the hours are shorter. MK & MGM close at 7:00pm most nights in November (except around Thanksgiving).

Hmmmm. Could this make the parks busier in early December, as those former November guests who can shift their schedule to December do so?
