I am booked for the 12/27/03 Eastern Cruise. I will probably have to reschedule the cruise till the summer of 2004. I just got a new puppy and don't think I will have anyone to watch her. So my question is which month do you think would be better for taking my cruise, July or August? I am a bit disappointed. I was really looking forward to spending New Year's Eve on the Magic. One more question. I booked through Disney. Can I just reschedule the reservation or do I have to cancel and then rebook?

If you can't find anyone, you can reschedule with Disney without having to cancel and rebook.

Have you thought about the sailings with the new itineraries? Next summer some of the Easterns are visiting either San Juan or Antigua in place of St. Maarten.

july or august? both are hot and humid. and you get rain. i just checked prices and if its only 2 cruising its cheaper in july/aug. but your best bet it the end of august so there are far less kids onboard. i hope this helps

We have a 1 year old Bichon Frise and we had no one to watch her in June. Called our Vet. and low and behold our vet. kennels small dogs. Call your vet. to see if they have any ideas or contacts. Our next trip in one month we have a friends college aged daughter staying at our house and watching the dog. Explore some more options before you cancel your cruise.

We have someone that comes and stays at our house to watch our dog. This way our mail and newspapers are picked up and our house is "lived" in while we're gone. If you do have to reschedule, we'll miss you on the cruise!

infact we have a little princess Westie named Chelsea. Although she is very pampered (sleeps on several pillows on a real bed) we still kennel her for our cruises. With small dogs and the right kennel it can be at least not too traumatic. She gets an indoor/outdoor "room" that is usually reserved for the big dogs. I bring one of her "lounge beds" from either the family or living room and bring her own food. Yes it is hard to leave her but it is only for a week. Re think and check around!

hey that is great new on the puppy we love dogs , but only have one her name is shelby .... she is a buff colored cocker spaniel
could u not board her at your vets or something like that ...

Never thought about using the breeder.

I have thought about the sailing with the new itineraries and it has my interest. Not sure what the dates are for the itineraires.

If I thought about it long enough I could probably find someone. But did you ever get that feeling that things prevent you from doing something for a reason? That's how I am feeling. First it was my daughter, she would miss being in the Teen Club by four months. This is something she really wanted to do with her brother. Then my husband started a new position at work. He could go on the cruise but it would be better if he waited till later. Finally, the new puppy came. So I am starting to think that maybe I shouldn't being sailling at this particular time for a reason.

Well if there is someone out there that wanted to cruise this New Year's Eve, luck might be coming your way. I am pretty sure this cruise is sold out. I have one month to decide for sure on what I want to do.

I was going to suggest calling your vet also, or looking in your local newspaper for a pet-sitting business. I'm sure you can get referrals from your breeder or vet. Any close neighbor? I know my neighbor said he'd take my dog for us without a problem, (maybe Tucker will come back trained and will actually listen to me!) and they'll come over and feed TC (The Cat).

But, look at it this way, if you do decide to postpone your cruise, you'll have a little extra time to find a sitter for the puppy!!

Your BF is adorable!!

We just got a new puppy also (long-haired miniature Dachshund)and are scheduled to sail the week before (12/20) on the Magic. We will definitely be using our vet. The cost is about $4 more a day than the kennels, but it offers such great peace of mind. We used to board our previous dog with the vet also, and started doing that during her last (18th) year with us.

I have to say that I did go through my own misgivings several weeks ago about this trip - really the cost more than anything else. It is certainly not a hardship, but we could have half a pool in the backyard with what we are paying!! One of the things that I did consider was that it would be the last time our eldest DD would be able to participate in the Teen club - and she will have a great time.

I do think, though, that sometimes you really have to trust your gut -- and if you are getting a strong reaction, you probably should listen to it!!
