We are flying out of Detroit on NWA on 12/16 and had a flight departure @ 6:50 AM and iI got an e-mail last night that said it has now changed to 9:05 AM. I realize that some times airlines do make changes, but what is the track record for NWA and is this (flight times being changed) a common occurence? We had booked the early flight so we could get to the parks @ 11 AM but now I wonder if they delay it again that it may not be worth going to a park at all that day.

That really sucks. I dont fly alot but when i do the big reason for the flights I choose are for the times and especially going to WDW you are trying to make the most of your trip and delaying you over 2 hours puts things back quite a bit. Sorry to hear about your news hope the rest of your trip runs smooth

I just had to change my flight with Northwest this weekend for my trip in November due to their schedule changes. I was flying out of Regina to Orlando with stops in Minneapolis and Memphis. Well after the changes were done, they only gave me a 12 minute connection time in Memphis. Definitely not enough time to catch my plane to Orlando! I called and they ended up switching me to a flight with only 1 stop in Minneapolis, getting me into Orlando almost 3 hours earlier! I didn't select that flight originally as it was quite a bit more expensive than the flight I booked.

We booked our October flights in January, and since then have had three schedule changes.

The second time NW changed our flights, they added three stopovers which resulted in us leaving at the same time but arriving over 5 hours later. We called and they were able to put us on a flight with only 1 stopover.

The latest change was just last month when NWA had changed our new flight times, adding an extra hour to our stopover in Minneapolis which resulted in our getting to Orlando another hour later. As it was, we were arriving at 11:00 pm so adding an extra hour to that would be rough.

The first thing we did was check for other available flights and noticed that the flight we had originally booked back in January had been returned to the original times as the additional stopovers had been removed. A quick call to NWA and they moved us back to our original flight with no service charges.

The same thing happened to us with NWA too (flying out of Detroit). We were leaving on Dec 1 at 6:50am. Since the new flight would have gotten us to Orlando around 11:30am (instead of 9:15am), we decided to leave the Friday night (7:15pm) instead. We were planning to spend the night in Detroit anyway so now the Disney trip can begin 1 day earlier :cool1: If you want to change your flight to another one, I was told that you can as long as it is around the same time frame and that you don't change your departing or arriving city (and they didn't charge me a change fee because the itinerary change was their fault).

I also just got an email which told me my flight with Northwest in November has changed. My flight to Orlando hasn't changed (darn! I wanted to get to WDW earlier than I am!), but I'll be getting home 20 mins later than I originally thought...my layover in Detroit is 20 mins longer. Thats not a big deal really.

Had an email last week with a schedule change. We book only direct flights back home via Minneapolis (we drive to Wpg from there), and they changed our flight to a later flight and we stop in Detroit. I called and changed it as there was NO WAY we weren't flying direct. They did accommodate us.

I also received the email about changes to the flights for friends I bought tickets for. Big changes in both the outbound and the inbound flights but could not get through to make any changes we can make.

I will have to keep trying later in the week.

It is there first trip to Disney and she wanted to get there really early. I think this might be because of the latest contract with the pilots. They might be trying to have less flights per day.

Good luck everyone.:confused3

Our flights also got changed with NWA. We were suppose to leave Saskatoon at 5:46 am get to Orlando at 2:10 pm, now we don't leave Saskatoon til 2:06 pm and we don't arrive at Orlando until 11:42 pm (all local time)....Then coming home we were suppose to leave Orlando at 5:30 pm they switched us to leaving at 7:42 am. I phoned and e-mailed, they were not the most helpful or caring bunch of people that's for sure. We won this trip through minute maid, it is for 5 days, 4 nights so by them doing this it really made our trip a lot shorter! They (NWA) have now let us change to leaving a day early without any charge, thank goodness, they are the ones that cancelled flights into and out of Saskatoon. We do have to pay for the extra night of hotel. However we do not leave until next week so I am crossing my fingers that they do not change anything else!!!

DH noticed our flight home from Orlando-Minneapolis-Winnipeg had changed with Detroit being added in. He called and got us booked on a later flight without the Detroit stopover.
What a bunch of nonsense.

Changes occur often, and on ALL airlines. I have had faily good luck with Air Canada and United to dates, but even so have had minor changes.

All times that there have been unsuitable changes, the airlines was accomodating and moved us to a more desirable flight. As an earlier poster had mentioned, even if it was originally more expensive.

Additionally, with major changes (such as additional stop-overs) I have been granted full refund with little question. That is great if you see metter times, routing or pricing elsewhere!

the most recent one being a change in the MPS -Orlando portion of the trip where DH and DD arrive into orlando at 1142pm instead of 1059pm. I tried to change to an earlier flight getting them into orlando around 715pm but NWA would only do a no fee change if the difference was 60 minutes (not 43min).
