On a whim my wife picked up the latest Virgin Brochure and brought it home even though holiday now paid in full.

Bit irked that when we booked our hotel it was designated a flagship hotel which they make great play out of in all their bumf. Now it has lost its status though retained same rating.

The flagship status did play a part in selecting this particular hotel.

Do I have any grounds for complaint. Should I expect to have been informed. I did get a letter informing me that some kiddies club was no longer available but no mention at all about the flag being struck.

Do hotels lose such status because others get better or because they get worse.

Is it all a gimmick based on back handers.

..... I would say the Flagship arrangement has to be negotiated with the hotel itself so one or other may have pulled out.

I wouldn't be too worried that the standards of the hotel itself has changed however, why not ask Virgin to clarify their reasons? I'd be interested to hear what they say.

Do tell us which hotel it is and perhaps someone who has stayed there recently can give you some feedback.
