A question for all of flight experts because I know you'll know the answer to this. Why would southwest change my flight number but nothing else about the actual flight? My first thought was that perhaps they changed the type of plane but I thought SWA only used one kind? When I booked the flight the flight number was 470 and when I checked yesterday to see what the price was currently at I noticed the flight number had changed to 1492. Just curious is all, the times are the same.

Example only.

The plane that arrives to pick you up may have been one that came from a different city compared with before.

Let's say you're going from Philadelphia to Orlando. Flight 1 goes from Boston to Philadelphia to Orlando. Flight 2 goes from Cleveland to Philadelphia to Charlotte.

They change it so flight 2 goes from Cleveland to Philadelphia to Orlando while flight 1 goes from Boston to Philadelphia to Charlotte. So you are rescheduled on flight 2.

LOL when I saw flight 1492, I was like, hey, that sounds like a flight out of CMH.. And low and behold...

Now I have to go search to see if CMH is Columbus....... ha ha...... yep it is!

Well I was close.. It's a flight back TO Columbus. Think I have taken that flight before..

I was surprised to get a flight # change on Delta less than 2 weeks before the flight.
