Change Coming to Rider Swap

Oh no, I hope that isn't true....

Riding a ride with a child/parent for the first time is incredibly special. This means that if Grandma is watching my littlest and is about to ride something for the first time, only one other person can experience that with them - which is really too bad.

I understand why they made the change. Rider swap gets abused by many people - but too bad for those that don't abuse it.

Hopefully the new iteration of FastPass isn't a letdown as well.

I'm so glad my kids are tall enough that this isn't an issue any more. We made great use of rider swap when the kids were little, and it was wonderful for various adults (granmom, parents, aunts throughout the years) to be able to experience the ride with the bigger kids.

3 riders seemed like a reasonable size for the return party to me, and I have a hard time believing that the one extra person per party will make a hill of beans difference in the grand scheme of things, but... c'est la vie.

I’m not so happy about this change. We’re a family of five and have never used rider swap because our kids were little and we generally rode the "all ages" rides. Now our kids (all born within 3 yrs) are getting older and can go on height restricted rides with an adult, but only my husband can take them (not me) because I have MS and get vertigo easily. With these changes it looks like not all the kids will get a chance to go.

Not sure if this helps your situation, but a child age 7 and up can ride rides that they meet height requirements for in Disney. A younger child can ride with them, if your husband and another child rides directly behind them.

It might. Thank you. Our oldest is 7.

I think this change is fair. Rider swap is meant to make sure that everyone gets to ride the ride, even the person who has to sit out. Its not really meant to get the group multiple rides on the same attraction. And with the roll out of the new Fast Pass system in DL Paris, I'm thinking they are trying to cut down on free repeat riders to free the line for folks who are willing to pay to cut the line.

I am sad to see the change, but I hope what ever their fast pass plan is makes the change worth it.
